car wouldnt start
So the car sat outside for about 24 hours. I played around with it adjusting bass setting up the clocks since it was a new car. checked out the lights if they work and what not.....
Anyway when it came time to start it , it had trouble. I cranked it once and held it for about 4 seconds.. tried to start but wouldn't. Second time same thing but it started up.
I just bought this car. Its been sitting for the last 2 years, barely driven.
Replaced air filter, oil filter, engine oil Today.
Car has a lot of rusted parts in the engine bay since moisture got to it.
+ today was so freaking humid like 90 %. It was very humid and moisture was in the air. Could this possible effect the starting?
anyway i also plan on getting new oem NKG sparks (KJ16CR-L11) Anyone know the gap they should have? Its a 95 accord lx
Also plan on getting some new wires. Going to get a new valve cover gasket and ill tell me tech to check if the valves are adjusted properly.
one thing that i don't know if i should get is a new cap and rotor. Never really did anything with this in any of my cars. How much does it run new?
Ps. Any other stuff i should check?
Im planing on bleeding the brakes and clutch after winter. Probably drain and put in new coolant in the radiator+ New tranny fluid (honda mtf).
I just need the car to run during the winter! and its to cold for me to start doing all those stuff now.

i have a 94 lx and the gap for my spark plug is between .040-.042 i think, but to be sure call your dealer they will tell ya, that's what's i did(usually they come pregapped). cap and rotors are cheap, order that stuff from majestic honda.com lot cheaper then the dealer may take a week for delivery. If you are unsure how to insall all this suff take it to your Mechanic
run fuel system cleaner through and if you havent replaced the cap and rotor in a while its good to do so anyways, also get your battery checked out at a local dealership, everything else you mentioned is just good for maintence, spark plug wires shouldnt make a difference.

ok well from reading ur post i would say to check the voltage since u did say u were messing with the electronics. sounds like u just draind the battery a little too much when u made ur bass adjustmnts etc.
for the gapping, depends on ur application, but im guessing its stock, if i remember correct the number at the end is the gap size so if im correct these come pregapped (KJ16CR-L11)
cap and rotor - aftermarket brands in this dept are pretty pricey/sketchy imo ...
id suggest sticking with Genuine Honda parts.
and finally my .02, id suggest since ur debating the valve adjustmnt. i would highly suggest doing the lower spark plug seals if ur doing this service as well. def a common prob for oil in the plug wells. and read the FAQ section in the accord forum. plenty of DIY in there to keep ya busy for a while. enjoy your new ride !

I started up the car in the morning today. Started up the first time but cranked about 3-4 times. It was around 43 outside. Came back after school at 5:30 and wanted to give it another try. With my door open and the interior light on i t didn't start the first 3 times. It was terrible, sounded like it was hardly able to breath. hehe After i closed the door and turned of the light it was able to start.
Talked with my Bud mechanic and he said he will come check the car out.
If it will need a valve adjustment he will do one. And whatever else needs to be done.
i will get:sparks, cables, cap/rotor. Im pretty sure i need a V. Adjustment because there is a loud tick that is pissing me off and it doesn't go away as the car warms up. You can hear it in side the car also. Tomorrow i will probably take the battery to a parts store to get it tested!

after some snow and standing outside for a day it didn't want to start at all. I had to bring out the hair dryer and heater up sparks and the battery.. It finally started.
My mechanic came yesterday . in cylinder to under the cable there is a oil leak in the spark plug gasket. He is coming today to fix it all up and see if i need a valve adjustment. Ill let you guys know whats up in a few hours.

Mechanic came also told me that the battery was old.
Bought a battery/sparl plugs/wires/cap/rotor/Gasket set. ended up costing us $230.
DAm thats all i have to say. didn't think it would be so expensive.
He will be coming again to adjust the valves. Hopefully it isnt lower end noise though!!!
