Default Aerosol based paints

So when it comes to doing rattle can based paint jobs, like spray bombing a engine bay to flat black, using 10 cans of Rustolem flat black on your whole ride. This is all because you were to cheap to buy real automotive paint. My question is that, all this shitty paint(rusolem/krylon) needs to be stripped and taken down to the old factory paint correct? Because you will have some kind of reaction with the Rustolem paint because it’s oil based. And lacquer will not bond to a oil based paint… is this sound about right.... I'm going to shoot my car over the weekend with a nice epoxy primer, i don't want to mess anything up.
