There are no 'twin-cam' D16 motors.

There are no 'Non-VTEC' B16 motors.

The paradoxes in this thread could make the universe ******* implode.

No, they came with a ZC. It's the same block as a D16A6, except the D16A6 is a SOHC.

Are you sure it's a D16? It's possible that you have the DOHC zc which is non-vtec.

It wouldn't say D16 on the block then.

Exactly.

D16A1 = DOHC 1.6L

Also technically speaking the DOHC ZC is a D series engine.

check out http://www.exospeed.com for good d series parts, including ZC cams.

All you guys spreading incorrect info need to recheck facts before coming across so harshly to a guy who is posting correct info.

<FONT SIZE="7">1986-1989 INTEGRA ENGINE IS A D16A1 AND IS A DOHC NON VTEC 1.6L ENGINE!!!</FONT>

And no matter what you say the DOHC ZC IS a D series engine - this is fact!!!

Think again

The old "zc" or whatever it was called. The D16A1 or something? out of a 1st gen integra.

wow nevermind everyone said that allready.

OP: I dont even know who makes cams for that motor....let alone turbo cams. I wish I could e-engineer some good cam specs...but I'm at a loss. You'll need larger intake side lift and duration. You'll need exhaust side lift...but not as much duration.

all usdm 86-89 integras came with a D16a1. and yes they are dual cam. the zc of that gen was a jdm/edm motor pushing out a bit more power. NO USDM 86-89 INTEGRAS CAME WITH A ZC.

Worst misinformation I've seen in a while...

As stated already, 86-89 came with a D-Series Twin Cam Non-VTEC engine (D16A1). There are other variants of this motor in other parts of the world (for example D16A8 or D16A9). It is most definitely NOT the same block as a D16A6. On the other hand, a SOHC ZC Non-VTEC engine is essentially the same thing as a D16A6.

What the real problem is here is that the OP wasn't specific enough in identifying his engine.

The D16A1 is what I was thinking of, I'm not sure why I said A6 ... I just wasn't aware that it wasn't a ZC here. I always hear of it refered to as a ZC, and very rarely as the D16A1.

I don't mess much with old motors, or research them.

Yes, the OP was about as clear as mud about what he has and what he wants.

I hear the D16A1 referred to as "ZC" and I see them (them being actual DOHC ZC engines) in first gen integras at the junkyards once in a while. As far as older ZC's go they are considered equivalents but people that know better know they aren't 100% identical. For the sake of arguement though, US Spec first gen Integras came with D16A1 engines, I believe the A8/9 was Euro, and ZC was what it was known as (and stamped) in most other markets. For sure, people that know about them know they aren't the same as other SOHC D-Series engines but certain parts are interchangeable. Back to the OP, I'd like to know what exactly is under his hood. To give him the benefit of the doubt, he may have an OBD1 variant of the "Black Top" DOHC ZC engine, but he asked for...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by RGT &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Need upgraded camshaft.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Oddly enough, you'd think he'd want two camshafts. So until that is cleared, not much help will come of this thread until the EXACT engine is determined.

HKS, JG Engine Dynamics, Delta Cam, Rocket Motorsports are a few that offer cams for the ZC/A1.

I couldn't agree more. It's bad enough when people "flame" other members without reason, and even worse when they try to "correct" someone using incorrect information themselves.

A little more helpfulness and a lot less hostility would go a long way around here.

Hang on let me get this straight:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Eran &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

There are no 'twin-cam' D16 motors.

There are no 'Non-VTEC' B16 motors.

The paradoxes in this thread could make the universe ******* implode.</TD></TR></TABLE>

...and...

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Eran &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">No, they came with a ZC. It's the same block as a D16A6, except the D16A6 is a SOHC.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Okay so we have you chiming in twice with bad info. Then someone else points out that the OP might not have been clear enough, which IMO is an issue completely irrelevant to the fact that you were trying to make someone feel stupid for saying there were DOHC D series engines. I mean you argued the "point" that there is no such thing as a DOHC D engine, not necessarily that the OP has one or not.

So then we got this:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Eran &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The D16A1 is what I was thinking of, I'm not sure why I said A6 ... I just wasn't aware that it wasn't a ZC here. I always hear of it refered to as a ZC, and very rarely as the D16A1.

I don't mess much with old motors, or research them.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Well then why on Earth would you even reply to this topic, much less try and insult people with your "info" only to be proven wrong, then toss it off carelessly as if it's the OP's fault that you're dead wrong about there being DOHC D engines? Don't reply to topics with "old engines" if you don't mess with them!!!

I mean I saw right through the ole switcharoo tactics to still put the blame on the OP, like when you thought to add this as a parting shot:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by RGT &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Hi guys.. My first post ever since joining..
Re-building my D16 Twin cam Turbo EG.. Need upgraded camshaft. Any idea where and what brands I'll be getting the best deal?

Thank you!!</TD></TR></TABLE>

Okay so I gather he has a "twin cam" or "DOHC" D16 engine.

So to me it looks more like a simple typo in leaving the "s" off of the word "cams" there.

We may also be dealing with a language barrier too, so again do you really think the guy is mistaken about having a Twin Cam engine?

Lastly whether it's called a "ZC" or not the ZC engines are in fact D series engines that bolt up to D series transmissions, etc. etc. I mean do you think an OBD1 SOHC VTEC ZC engine isn't a D series just because it lacks "D16" in the block code? I mean it uses the exact same timing belt, waterpump, seals, clutch, etc. etc. as the D16Z6, but according to your logic it's not a D series because it says "ZC" and not "D16whatever" on the block.

Sorry for the long-winded call-out post, but I grow tired of people taking jabs at people who are trying to learn info. your misinfo posts could be taken literally to those who don't know better, and therefore you're doing a huge dis service to the community when someone else repeats "a D16A6 block is the same as the DOHC ZC..." etc. etc.
