Tach not working Please Help
hello everyone, I've been searching but I couldn't find a clear answer. This is the thing, I just finished my H22a swap on my 93 prelude SI, everything seems to be ok, the car starts up at the first attempt & I don’t have any codes. The only bad thing is that I noticed that my Tach isn't working, it light up and all but it's not working, I haven’t take the car out yet, I'm waiting on a Cat converter that should be here today Monday. I don’t really have a clue how to fix this, I read that someone had a similar problem, & he said something about checking the tach by the fuse box, but I don’t even now which wire or plug. If you guys can help me I would really appreciate. Thank you in advance.
try pushing all the wires that connect to the dizzy back into its clip, they might have came out some while doing the motor swap
If not come back here and we should be able to figur this out.

Do you have an ohmmeter/know how to use one?
The tach wire coming out of the distributor is on the smaller connector on the right, coming out of the front of the distributor, there is a thin blue wire, that is the tach signal.
Test continuity between it there and the blue wire at the gauge cluster, or you could look into checking the continuity to the ecu pin, I don't know that off the top of my head, but a VAFC installation manual would be an easy reference for that....

there is a tach test connector located near the passenger side shock tower. its that same blue wire, just capped off at the end. i had a problem where mine was dead and it was the sender inside the dizzy.
get an ohmmeter and start probing that blue wire.

Hey thanks for the answers, I tryed to push, pull, move, disconnect & connect that switch back but nothing made the tach to work, I guess I will have to buy an ohm meter to test that wire. now I noticed that the speedometer is actually working so are the little numbers on it. another thing is that I heared like a short cicuit by the driver side tweeter wen I turned the key, but still not working
yeah is a 93 & no, it isn't the EL gauge, I thought about buying one but I don't know now at least until I can fix this issue. is there any way that the tach it self broke down?

Ok guys I found the problem, well actually it showed up by it self, all was due to a bad alternator, I was driving the other night & the dash lights start to go lower & lower until it the car just turned off, so & replace the alternator with the one I used to have in my H23 and everything is working right now, stable idle, tach & speedo , all lights. Thanks for the help anyways.
