max tire size for 15x5.5?
yes you can.
i'm running that setup on mini cooper rims.
what i did to check was go on tirerack.com, find the tire you like, and in the specs section, they list min/max wheel width.

Aside from whether you can mount the tire on the rim, you need to get the proper size tire for your car.
If 195/60-15 is your stock tire size, you shouldn't run 205/50-15; that size is way too small in diameter for your car (almost 5 percent smaller diameter than stock). If you want to use 205 treadwidth, then get 205/55-15. 205/55 is only 1.4 percent smaller than stock, and 205/55 can be mounted on a 15x5.5 rim.
