Default EP3 reflash reliability.

So I know that the EP3 engine is pretty well detuned for Emissions and whatever reasons but I am wondering about the reliability of revving another 1K RPMS higher with the Hondata Reflash...

Does the valve train hold up well to it? I assume that it should be fine because a 6800 RPM redline is kind of modest for a honda.

Just wondering about long term effects of it etc...

I wouldn't recommend staying at 7700rpms for extended periods of time, but every now and then won't hurt it.

But, call Hondata and ask them. They set the revlimit there for a reason.

Yeah. Haven't had any problems with mis shifts yet...

Although my girlfriend accidently put it into 1st when at a 20ish MPH speed. Thank god for higher revving engines!!! She has been to scared to drive my car since.

I am just wondering mostly how the valvetrains handle the higher RPMS. I know that most hondas rev way higher than that and this guy was probably just detuned for emissions and crap but it still seems iffy.

Anyone had another bad happen yet?

i'm sure the stock valvetrain will hold it... but the question is, is the motor going to make power that high? even u want to rev that high i'm sure it will be ok but just make sure to adjust your valves when they start to get loud!

Well the rev limit is raised higher and Hondata claims the max horsepower is also raised. From like 6500 or whatever to like 7500 or something. So it won't be a case of useless revving.
