Default What timing belts are people using

WHat kinda timing belts are you guys using on your cars?> THe reason I ask is because I has a Honda timing belt on my built all motor gsr and it snapped on the highway today. The belt was just over a year old and had about 20 000km on it. I was just cruising at about 4000rpm in 5th gear and boom the car shut of. so i know all my pretty little valve will be jamed into my nice head

OEM or Gates. If I remember correctly, gates manufactures the OEM belts.

I use Honda T belts FTW. Did you have an oil leak or was the belt too tight? Good luck with your head.

Well I dont think it was over torqued and I dont have any oil leaks. But I pulled the head off today at work and there are atleast five bent valves that I could see. Oh well I guess its time to rebuild the head again and give the oem belt another try.

OEM, but you should check your belt tension with the engine hot, I pulled the guts out of a tensioner because the belt was just right cold but with the engine hot it was WAY too tight. I got lucky and only had to replace the idler, unfortunately you didn't get so lucky. Good luck with the rebuild.

OEM for me. TODA is a pretty blue oem. Gates does make oem.
Bet it was too tight. Make sure you had both od the "retaining washers" on the bottom pulley in place.
