Default Tire choices?

Well, I'm looking to get some new tires for my stock rims. These will be winter tires only, so keep that in mind. I'm not sure if I should go for a pure snow tire, or go with something that's an all season mud + snow tire. I was leaning towards the all season mud + snow because I'm sure they'd last me longer and would provide a smoother ride with less noise. Obviously there isn't snow on the ground all the time, so something like a touring tire would probably work well. I really like Kuhmo and Yokohama tires, but am open to other brands as well. What do you guys think?

I just bought a new set, took me plenty of time to research and purchase them too. But things to think about are mileage warranty, driving conditions (yourself and the weather), and price. I drive pretty spirited most of the time and we get lots of snow/rain in Grand Rapids, MI. I got the sumitomo HTR H4 from sears. For about $80 a tire and excellent tread, good reviews and great handling so far from my own experience, can't go wrong.

My friend had the Blizzaks on his Integra and said they're awesome. I wanted to buy a set of 4 of them and see how they worked. Only thing that sucks is that they're snow/ice tires, meaning they won't be very great on dry pavement. Apparently though on ice and deep snow they work amazing though. I found the Blizzak REVO 1's for 58 bucks a tire and was really considering ordering them since they were so cheap. I was just going to order them in the stock size (195/60/15) and figured that would work. I read some of the reviews and I guess noise and comfortability wise they're pretty damn good. I would imagine that I could get at least 2 winters (4 months) out of them. Also, is there anything I should use to coat them when I store them to prevent dry-rotting?

Well I have used the Blizzak x-ice and the Michellan(sp) WS-50's they work wonders in the snow and Ice.
Although if you can get them get Gislaved ice tires, they are from Switzerland or New Zealand can't rmb. But thats only if your getting alot of snow and ice. If not, then those wont be worth the money you spend. im from Ontario, Canada btw.

I figured that would help to keep them off the ground to prevent dry rotting. I'm sure it helps if you clean them up really good with water before putting them away too. I have a feeling that if you were to coat them with anything it would hurt. I know Armor-All destorys rubber and obviously you don't want to wipe them with oil since oil has detergents in it. IIRC, when we get new tires in at work they don't have any coatings on them. I think what I might do is clean them up, put them in garbage bags, and store them in the basement. I just don't want to buy tires and have them dry rot on me and only get a couple months use out of them. Also, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the Blizzaks. The guys at work that use them love them. Should I get any special size or will the stock size (195/60/15) do fine? I plan on mounting them on stock rims. Anything else that might help?

195/65 r15?

Anyway, if you plan on keeping your car for a while, I'd just buy some new rims and keep them in your garage during the spring/summer/fall. Cheaper over the long-run than paying somebody to switch the tires twice a year.

As for what to get, I'm happy with all-season radials, but my longitude is also a couple hundred miles south of you, so I'm sure you get more snow / ice than I do. Ask your neighbors, what do they do?

Just one more question. What tire size should I be running or is the stock size fine? I was just going to get a set of 4 Blizzaks (stock size) and put them on the stock aluminum rims. Any other recommendations?

Well, I got my tires ordered, so now I have one last question. What are you guys running for winter rims?

Yea, I didn't plan on going chrome because chrome on a Honda is teh gay. I guess it would be best to just run stock since they're free and have the correct tire size and offset to work best for the winter. Now, I've just gotta decide on a paint scheme. What do you guys think would go best with this?
