Default Coolant leak..help me!

Ok guys...well ive been noticing spots of coolant on the floor, so i check it out and i find out that its leaking at the thermostat housing. Its more like between the cylinderhead and the thermostat housing. Theres a gasket there. Im pretty sure the one of the three bolts that holds the thermostat housing to the head is stripped. What do you think i can do? Does anyone know the exact torque specs for the thermo to the cylinderhead? i thought it was somewhere around 9 ftlbs. I feel pretty screwed with this one, let me know what you think!

Get a new gasket, take off the thermo housing and inspect the bolts and bolt-holes...see if you see any signs of stripping on either; like metal shavings, messed up threads, etc. If one is stripped, you may be able use a longer bolt of the same thread size just fine...just be very gentle when you tighten it. Or the gasket may just be bad, you never know until you check it out.

Cool, will do. Hopefully its just the gasket.

Also, Check the O-ring where the Water pipe goes into the thermostat housing. Mine had been giving me trouble for quite some time.. replaced the o-ring, and still had the problem..

my fix, was to unbolt the water pipe mounting bolt (above right of oil filter) and i shifted the water pipe about a quarter inch toward the thermostat housing. haven't had any problems since.

And those three bolts are sure a pain in the *** to get started correctly.. easy to cross thread, so i'd check if it's leaking from the water pipe inlet first.
