Anyone have experience w/ Bridgestone Potenza please
My tread on RE070 is almost done. I'm thinking of getting another set but I saw online that the 01 R compound is a lot cheaper by $26 ( $146 ea ) as opposed to $172.
Guess they're running a special right now at tirerack for that type of tire. I'm gonna shop around as well because I've never had tires shipped.
Don't blast me because I couldn't post in the wheel, tire, suspension thread because of this:

I've only used Toyo RA1's and Nitto NT01's on my car, I shaved the RA1's and thought they "felt" better on the track than the nitto's, but I still have a set in the garage with plenty of thread, never shaved them, so I cant give you a true comparison
I've also used Yokohama AVS ES 100's on my crx for street use, and they were meh. Good enough for the road.

I had the RE750's on my teg and I LOVED them. Probably the best tire I have ever owned on a car. They lasted surprisingly long and they gripped very well too.

You shouldn't have to do that and even then what you get is underwhelming.
1. They take forever to heat cycle.
2. Once they do get warm they wear out faster than anything short of Falken's.
3. The warm grip they provide is less inspiring than the best street tire.

I know you aren't talking about the NT01, its a very popular track tire and made of the same compound as Toyo RA1s. All other nittos are **** though
Out of those choices, I would go with the RE01R. Its a great tire, I would step it up to 245/40 or 255/40 however
Since you arent lowered or running crazy offset wheels you should fit them fine without rubbin

I'm pretty dumb about tires I just don't want the guy at shop scratching the rim when he puts them on/takes them off. I'm gonna get mine powdercoated. Hopefully w. OEM tires they'll be just fine. I'm a bit worried if I step up like what my buddy did on his 02 wrx, they might scratch it like his.
I forget what tire combo he was running with. BUt i do know that sidewall was thin and wheels were 18"
What are the benefits of doing that?

*NOT* Speaking from personal experience, a smaller sidewall reduces tire flex, which improves response. Makes sense, though I cant say that I've "tested" it.
edit: but I personally like to *see* a bit of meat on my tires as well

What kind of driving do you do and what kind of weather do you normally encounter?
The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is a good all around street tire with similar performance to the excellent (but discontinued) Potenza S-03.

The RE070 and RE-01R are entirely different tires, good at different things. Whether either of these, or some other tires, is best depends on your personal situation and preferences. That's why the FAQ in this forum tells what information you need to provide in order for us to post recommendations that best suit your particular needs:

This depends on what you're looking to get out of the tire. If you're still not sure what to get after reading the above information , make a new topic and tell us what you intend to use it for. In that topic, make sure to answer the following questions:
- What kind of car you have (year, model, version)
- What size wheels you have
- How the tires will be used (daily driving, autocross/track/dragstrip)
- What kind of weather the tires will be used in (dry, rain, snow)
- What your preferences is in the trade-off between value (low purchase price and/or long treadlife) vs performance

<FONT COLOR="crimson">I'll take performance over long treadlife. If I could I'd get competition tires but that'd be just dumb ( last 5k mi ) because I don't even compete.
From what i've read the RE070 is noisier than 01R for streetuse. That's to be expected of a UHP tire. In addition, it says that it requires a lot more tire pressure to maximize performance.
Surveywise the 01R seems to be better than RE070 but everyone's a critic.
Pretty much the 01R outscored the RE070 in every category. /scratches
