B18B with GSR TRANNY????
So i am currently looking to put a GSR tranny on a B18B LS as my DD although before i do so i was wondering if someone can tell me what type driving characteristics i should expect if any??
Will it be close to the same as GSR B18C1 since the two motors have about the same amount of torque?
Oh and when i search (B18B GSR TRANNY) it didn;t not really result in the information that i need
So any thoughts would be nice.

well the gsr are great for turbo aplications. and they are better than an LS tranny. the gears are slightly slower than the b16's. i have 2 gsr trannys for sale on ebay. a 98 and a 2001. just put gsr transmission in ebay and they will come out. my seller name is ma_rio44
A GSR transmission will help your acceleration.. gears 3-5 have been jacked upwards, so you will be at higher rpm after 2nd gear. Gas mileage will take a little hit.. probably half a mpg or something
As far as driveability goes, it will make your car want to rev up to redline more often, but
i don't see it affecting driveability at all. I have an EX with a transmission that has gears that are spaced out out sort of like a GSR trans and i love kicking into 3rd gear!!
and the LS motor has something like 40cc extra of displacement.. so it actually has a little more torque down low, maybe something like 1-2lb/ft. The B18C1 makes up for that little hit in low end power with the transmission + making a 1lb/ft more at 1000rpm higher.
B18B1 + GSR trans is a good combo.. if you did intake/exhaust on your LS motor, it would definetely help with any low end power loss that air flow mods usually incur.
Word.

I had this setup in my coupe I had, I LOVED it! It wasnt a super fast car, but I was hitting 14.8 in the 1/4 mile with a full interrior in the car. All I had was a B18B1, 01 Gsr tranny, Cold air intake, and a catback exhaust. It definatley didnt make any super differences in my gas mileage, nothing super noticible, maybe like 5 miles less on a full tank than what the LS tranny was getting me. None the less, its awesome, Id do it if I were you. I just put the setup I had in my coupe in the new hatch I got. But, unfortunatley its winter time up here and the track is closed, so I wont know what she does 1/4 mile-wise till next year. Especially if you are using this setup for a DD, it will kick a**!
im rockin the setup jdm b18b with y80 gsr tranny, cant say how much i love it. yeah hes right about the gas mileage but its way worth it.
