Default Safe Revving for d15b7

What is the maximum rpm that it is safe to revv a stock d15 engine while driving, without doing any permanent damage?

Max power is around 6800, limiter is 7200, those are factory specs for a reason. Technically you could rev it out past that by way of a chip but you wouldnt make any power really.

Theres a red line and a rev limit for a reason, its safe to go up to red line.

It depends, there's no use in revving a Z6 past 6800 as it won't make any power from 6800RPM+, and if you have a Y8 it's like 6500, no sense in revving it past there as it resists due to the head constriction in the rest of the RPM.

What motor and setup are we talking about here?

I do have an ex tranny, still the ex/si trans' gears are still longer than the ls tranny..

That's hardly an argument worth making. They're pretty damn close. That's like comparing the ITR trans to the B16 trans.

You're forgetting this though:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Padawan &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">You have to take into consideration that once you shift, the RPMs will drop down from where peak power is generated, and so you're essentially climbing back up the curve again. What you want to do is shift at a point that balances the drop-off in power past the peak with the drop-off in power before the peak. In most cases, that would be at/near redline. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Shifting at like 6800-7k IS the point of balance on a Z6. You'll lose to much moving any further past there.

stock d15 is simple, stock redline for a stock motor.
If it was a turbo d16 of somesort many people have spun then too 8000-8200 without any problems running forged internals.

Yeah but I was not comparing it to the LS trans originally, I was comparing the z6 trans to the b16 trans.
