Buying a Type R, means if your not careful it will get stolen... There isnt any security feature that will completely protect yuor car from being stolen...

Well nobody knows.. Owner doesn't know and I don't either I don't wanna spend a lot of money on security if it doesn't have atleast a lojack.. My gsr has ton of secuirty I know it can be stolen but its gonna slow them down quite a bit

Wrong, 97-98 don't have an immobilizer. 00-01 on the other hand do.

that dude is right about the imobilizer.

But honestly, the factory imobilizer is crap. I'm not going to say how to circumvent it, but anyone who knows Hondas would have that car in a milisecond if all it had was the imobilizer.

So, deff. get some sort of an alarm. 2 stage with fuel and ignition cut, and a stealth install with backup battery. (for the times you HAVE to park somewhere)

and nothing beats a locked garage for all other times. LoJack is crap also, it seems that everyone who has had their R stolen on this board, has had LoJack. It doesn't do anything.

The stock immobilizer doesn't do much anyway, it takes 15 secs of the most rookie thief to bypass it.

change the alarm once you get the R. there is a chance he could keep one of the remotes and he can always make an extra key for himself. can't be too careful when it comes to an itr.

an alarm will not prevent it from getting stolen but it will kill time. the more layers of security you have, the more time it will take for it to get stolen. get a wheel boot if you are super paranoid for when you park on the street or public places. and if you dont have a garage for it, i wouldnt get the car.

That was my lame attempt at answering the OP's question in "young, hip" dialogue. My apologies.

There are better security measures to spend your money, than Lowjack.

Anything is a jump away but your thinking about buying an R protect it don't be stupid and leave it places where it can get taken...Its like a baby its safe when its in your sight but the second you turn the corner its gone...

you can always call up lojack and give them the VIN they should be able to tell you if there is indeed a lojack system installed or not or whether or not its being monitored or not either.
