Default 92' Honda Prelude

Major problems with this Car!

-Rpm gauge wont stay steady and accurate with speeds, it will flutter back and forth like crazy when I'm driving.

-Car as of right now won't start. I'll turn the key, but it wont ignite?
-Prior that I was driving, and all of the sudden it died and the engine light went on?
-This car has random problems that are very annoying, but at times it runs beautifully.

Could it be the battery, is that why it's not firing? What should I do that could be an easy fix?

That's something related to the distributor most likely. The tach gets its signal from inside it and the ignitor (also inside) can go out and keep the car from starting.

Probably not the battery, but you definately want to check all your ground wires.

The not starting issue is either your negative battery cable (ground) is seriously corroded or loose, or the distributor is completely dead.

Take a look at the battery cable first.

Another thing to check could be the ignition switch - my gauges flipped out for a while before the switch died, and then my car wouldn't start.
