Default Vtec Help????

1992 Civic Dx

Hey i just did a D16z6 swap with a P28 running it. I have all my wires running to the right spots eveything is were it should be im just not sure y my V isnt kicking in

Im sure its something simple just wanted some thoughts on what to do, and besides changing it out... thats the obvious answer.... LOL

how do you know your vtec isnt kicking in....do you any cel's?

You're really throwing me off. Are you asking what a CEL is? It is a check engine light. Or are you trying to communicate something else that I'm still not catching after reading your last post 11 times?

CEL = check engine light
vtec will not engage if not at right operating temps or oil pressure

you can't really hear or feel vtec in a d series

you can hear it with an aftermarket intake. Any short ram will do.

oklol thanks well the cel comes on after like 5 or 10 mins.

and stays on yes

when i run the code off my ecu it read a code 3

My buddy has the same swap same parts and its noticable after 45 rps +

i had a CAI in my d16y8 and i can BARELY recognize it
in my b16 crx however its freakin loud and noticeable

did you do the swap? if so did you take out the oil jet?

how is it notcieble after 4500, i thought stock kicked in at 4900

I'm not too familiar with this as B series have separate VTEC oiling, but apparently the head oiling orifice on the D needs removed for adequate oil supply for VTEC. I'm just kind of guessing though, don't know much about Ds.

the guy said he did a d16z6 swap.....that a motor stock from 92-95 civic si/ex...it comes vtec. its none of that
