If you want major power (300 whp+) your going to have to lower the compression.

I say Boost, most will say N/A. All depends on the use, funds, and goals. Search, this has been covered a bunch of times.

If you will be happy with 300whp ish leave it completely stock . We have built many JDM ITR swappedcars making 300-330 whp. After that drop pistons, rods and head bolts and you'll be good to 400-450whp.

Here's a link to one of them:

350 whp on the street is more than enough, but if your greedy like me you will have to do some work.

Going for the drag strip your obviously going to want as much power as you can get. You need to decide on your goals, because the options are endless. When you shoot for a sub 12 second car, the $$$ starts adding up quick.

What a waste of a car, no less an ITR.

I thought a turbo on a Type-R was a bad idea until I drove my friend's car and I loved it! However, I don't think you need to bother going inside the engine to change pistons, rods or even lower the compression ratio because 300 WHP is all that the best of street tires can handle anyway. Unless of course the engine is tired and needs a rebuild anyway, and if that's the case, go for it!

For me the type-r is all about track days and auto - x. Keep it real yo, no turbo on the itr.

That is exactly what I thought until I drove a Type-R with a turbo. I was just like a stock Type-R turned up to 11. Or maybe 13.

No need to lower the compression. Find a competent tuner and you will be fine. It will help keep your off boost driveability and you won't have to run as high a boost setting as you would if you lowered compression.

People who tell you to lower compression for anything under 300 whp, are spreading bad information.

For your goals, and if you don't want any more in the future, I suggest looking into the GT28RS. Excellent turbo, excellent spool.
