Braille Carbon Fiber Wing - Does it look right for the Type R?
Howdy guys, it's been a while since I have been in this forum....
We were in a meeting today about the Type R vehicles and honda's in general over here at Braille Auto. Today the topic came up about fitting the Braille Carbon Fiber Wing to a DC chassis vehicle.
The question came up, "Would Type R owners like the look of our product for their vehicles?"
I know that I was very very picky about the looks of my Type R, and of course my current cars. We use the wing on our race car that I drive and I love the look on it, but it's a RWD car. The FWD Integra has a slightly different style.
My previous favorite wing for theType R was the Mugen wing with it's adjustable settings.
What do you guys think?
Here is a picture of it by itself:

We may be able to work some testing deals. That is one of the reasons for this post- to find out the response for the product from you and to work on some application specific testing.
Here is a video with the wing in action:

click on the Braille 350z on the right. You'll notice the wings downforce in the updraft of the smoke from the rear of the car, even at low speeds.

Wow, thanks for the help!
I recall another wing I used to love was the factory Type R with a small gurney lip on the top of it.
There was also a CF Type R wing out there once upon a time.

Along those lines. The Mugen GEN 1 resembles that and so does this one.

I do not know what Braille's exact marketing intension. If you are trying to dig into the ITR market on an aftermarket wing, I do not think you will succeed. Our cars have been around for 10 years, 6-7 for some. The choice of the wings ITR owners will place on their vehicles will be either Mugen or some sort of GT wing already available by a Japanese manufacturer. I personally like the J's wing, but it is too aggressive for the street. Mugen Generation 2 is an excellent choice for both street and track.
Price point is good but with ITR owners, through what I have seen, its all or none. We are not afraid to spend money where we want to spend it. Cordially.

i would definatly rock one if i could use the factory holes and switch back and forth between the two.
I'd go with a unit that would fit the OEM holes. While my trunk ain't perfect, it's still largely OEM and I'd rather not buy a backup trunk to fit a wing that has centered pedestals.
Nothing against braille, but I personally do not like the wing's shape - I'm sure it works well, but it's a bit much compared to the c-west and ings posted above.

how to market/sell the wing:
design and engineer it for fit and function.
test it against competitors in a controlled setting.
report back with meaningful, quantifiable data for comparison.
plan B:
redesign it for looks
get it into a mainstream rap video / have it mentioned in the song
sell it to stunnas blangin' whips with hot parts rocking (fake) Bapes to Soulja Boy.

As ITR owners have become better and better drivers, and as they enter racing or modify their vehicles for serious track service, they're often amused (and sometimes horrified) to realise that their vehicles are in the 140-150 mph range on the straights of many road courses.
These people will be interested in a wing that's better than the OEM ITR wing, if you can honestly tell us that it is better.
You know the deal. You've driven these things at speed. You know where the air needs to be engaged and how it needs to be directed. It needs to be high enough to catch the air right where it begins to scramble, and it needs to guide the air smoothly off the back of the car so that the turbulence is chiefly formed behind the car.
A wide stance for the supports would be good for the obvious reason that it provides additional stability in unusual circumstances (the usual after-race beer and wing party, for example). If it can fit into the stock holes, that'd be great...but perhaps not practical even with a wide stance.
I'm sure you'll sell some if you market them correctly, and if the final product is released with a view toward solving the issues that you know exist with a DC2 ITR driven at high speeds.

Latest Spoon Civic with the kind of wing we're talking about.
Supports at the extreme outboard.
Grabs the air very high, coming off the roof, to be sure the air's directed well behind the car.
