Default drag turbo kit?

can i hear some people's experiences with a drag turbo kit on a jdm b18c in a 96 civic with it properly installed and taken care of? how was the quality, the performance, and the dependability of the turbo?

overall they are decent, alot of people complain about the manifold and getting boost creep. the revhard is a better kit for the same $. revhard comes with a precision turbo, bigger charge piping etc....

mine is not on a b18 its on a h23 in a lude but my biggest compaint which was already said is the manifold. hard to get to the manifold nuts and the wastegate placement is on the #1 cylinder that and the turbo is some off brand 'master turbo' .

i have a drag kit thats used on a b18b. the turbo has lasted for about 5k miles and has little shaft play and leaks no oil. i also have a oil restrictor. i canged out the manifold to a blox unit and i have no issues with boost creep. overall a solid kit. a friend of mine had another stock drag kit and it lasted 3 years until he lost compression on cylinder 3 and 4. probibly due to the manifold design.

get the kit and buy a different manifold

thanks for the info. and i appreciate it. my car is my every day driver and i take care of it very much. i have aboout 50 some thousand miles on it and have not had any problems with it since it has been installed. very clean quality install and the same guy is going to install the turbo kit that he had run on a b18c1. im thinking of only doing 8-9 psi on my bone stock jdm b18c. im not gonna drive the hell out of it, but i will have fun. as long as i let it warm up and cool off before starting it and shutting it off with proper bsc. matainence, i might poss. run into problems with the manifold? or compression?

why buy the kit and immediately upgrade some of the most expensive parts, im telling you get a revhard. you get better manifold, turbo, piping, wastegate, every expesive part is better. go compare. the revhard manifold is great very very similar to blox and inline pro. the turbo if i must say again is a precision SC44, also a bad *** turbo NOT a master power ooooh sounds like ****, you get a Tial 38mm wastegate, probably the best and most common wastegate out there i think drag still uses the dinosaur deltagate.

yes the drag works but for the same money the revhard kicks its *** out of the water.

get the kit, get it installed, get tuned and be done with it. if thats all the boost you wanna run you wont have to change anything with the revhard the drag may or maynot have creep issues, seen it 100241587621456 times though

The Drag kit isnt bad, but for the price you could get something a lot better. Seeing as you live in Kansas, you dont have to deal with emissions and can therefore build your own turbo setup. Building your own setup allows you to tailor it exactly to your needs and save money. Its not hard to do if you research a little beforehand.

I am doing a special on the peakboost kits.

Its $3199 and you get..

Peakboost FTW Turbo Kit non ac
Precision 680CC Injectors
Walbro 255hp fuel pump
Chrome Chip for Fuel Management to get you up and running.

Kits are in stock too. With Drag/RH you gotta wait about 2-6 weeks.

My first turbo was a Drag gen III kit for my gs-r I bought about 5 years ago. Not a bad kit but you could spend a fraction of the cost buying all those pieces individualy. Looks like they've changed the brands of items too; mine came with a Turbonetics turbo....now it's 'Master Turbo'???lol Can't say too much about Master Turbo but I've never had a problem with my Turbonetics. (Currently running a t3/60-1, originally came with a t3/t04e).

If you don't want to buy everything separate then go with a Peakboost or revhard kit like above posters said.

Only thing remaining on my car from the original kit is the manifold, dp and piping w/ bov. I'm currently in the market for a new manifold and dp.

the Drag kits are good for what they are. If you arent looking for anything crazy or plan to upgrade alot of stuff, then its good enough.

I sell RH, custom kits, Full-Race, Straightline Specialties, and DRAG. It all depends on the person's budget and what they want to use it for.

If you do decide on Drag turbo kit, let me know. I sell the complete kits for about $2600 shipped.

The Drag kits are very good kits. I never had a problem with boost creep and with the kit on my stock B16 in my old hatch I went 11.8's with it and daily drove it.

my price? yes brand new. Been selling Drag kits since 1996 or so. we get them direct. We actually had one of the first Drag turbo kits on one of our EG coupes. We even had some pictures of it back in the day in Turbo magazine.
