Maybe I'm just missing the picture here but I noticed a rapid rise in all the ITR's that are being stolen lately and just can't help but ask where are all these good parts going to? I mean these parts have to be on some low life ricerheads car somewhere.
I'm talking about things like C5 heads and blocks or whole motors that have ID #'s on them. Not to mention a 5 lug swap is very noticeable.
If there is such a demand on the black market for these parts how is it that once these parts are stolen they rarely ever get seen or heard of again. Maybe the thieving thugs are just that tight lipped.
There is no telling how many Honda/Acuras there are on the streets today that are modified w/ stolen R parts. Like I said before if these lowlifes wouldn't be willing to buy the stolen parts then the theft rate would almost stop completely.
Makes me ask the question how many years will the R parts be so dang desireable even in the future? Maybe till they are almost completely gone.

If you dont support the stolen market, always request receipts or proof of purchase, then thieves will have no reason to steal except for their own personal use . But lets face it - it will NEVER end.

That's true in a perfect world, but in the meantime money talks and people like deals.

THis is completely true...the sad part is, only God knows when the demand for civics/integras will end...probably not anytime soon. everyone likes owning those cars cuz they can get away with paying 1500 bucks for the shell, steal a type r, put everything in their car, and in the end have a car that is essentially a "Type R". Sucks that the real beauty of the ITR is being destroyed to feed these low model civics and integras that want to replicate the ITR image.
its a shame.

I imagine that who ever is low enough on the life poll that when they do add the mighty R parts to there cars , IF someone asks where they got them one cold easily lie and say they got them where ever. I mean I dont carry around the receipts for the parts on my car, to prove to people where I got them. And I imagine that a thief could lie.
Its to bad that people steal ITR's or any car at that, I always will blame the thiefs for the US not getting the Type R again. I know there are other reasons that the R didnt come here but thats the one I think is more accurate.

The problem isn't limited to ITR's either. A friend of mine recently had his totally stock, excellent condition 1996 GSR stolen and completely stripped. It had well over 100k miles and he bought it new. Parked on the street in chicago to see a concert a month ago and BAM it was stolen between 8pm and 12am.
I think the biggest question is just what % of the ITR parts we see in all of these civics and teggys ARE stolen?
I mean, I haven't met a lot of people will lower-end hondas that can even afford to pay for red stitched shift boots, (s2000) steering wheels, 5-lug conversions, ITR seats (see these EVEYWHERE), and of course, B18C5's. Hell, I can barely afford the parts I want!
Whether people know it or not, I'd say that well over half of the higher-quality car parts offered "for sale" on various Honda forums (see AZHT.com lol) were stolen originally. Of course, once the parts start to jump between stolen to second to third owners, all hope of tracking parts becomes lost.
That's another problem with all of the stolen parts. Honda owners have a knack for buying and then selling soon after, with cars, rims, interior parts, seats, etc.
If only there was some alien technology to track every part and screw that comes out of a car. I guess we're screwed until then...

This is nothing new..back in the late 80's to the early 90's owners of Grand Nationals and GNX's faced the same problem..you would see many "fake" Nationals and parts of Nationals on Lower model Regals, malibu's, cutlasses etc...Nowadays you hardly even see Grand nationals anymore unless it is at a show or something..sad but history ALWAYS repeats itself...
when ever ive bought anything thats not from a store one of my first questions is this stolen, if they stammar for a second or just do not seem truthful i walk no matter how good of a part or deal it is. ive left some pretty nice parts because of this.

You are not going to find these stolen parts/motors in our ITR's. They're all in Civics being used for street racing. These guys buy stolen parts, steal cars/parts themselves, and also just steal cars/parts from each other. The police (in Las Vegas at least) believe there is a strong connection between street racing and auto theft. Consider the following:
Street racers are often young and don't have jobs.
They blow these motors left and right, and need replacements.
Selling stolen motors/parts provides funds for performance upgrades and parts.
You be the judge...

the minute is see a civic with full type r interior, 5 lug with wheels, and motor i automatically assume a type r was sacrificed.
usually people that do a 5 lug will most likely upgrade the type r wheels to something better.
thieves dont always steal car to replace their motors or get parts, most of the time is because of the huge market that is offered for these parts. most thieves dont drive integras or civic, but much better things like bmws and such. they steal cars to sell the parts to ricer kids that cant afford to pay the real prices, most of the time its people they know personally.
i know this because its happened to me....
my car got stolen, i had full type r interior (removed from my friends 01 py ITR cuz he was getting a full jdm interior). The guy who took it drove an X5, and sold the parts to his friend who owned an eg.
most of these guys dont have real jobs, so they have to resort to something for a source of income. and how good is it to sell a full type r interior for lets say $600 in a couple of hours, when usually a weekly paycheck is about that amount. They just made the same money in 2 hrs that they would have made working a regular job. Its much easier to them, and since the demand for anything "ITR" is sooo high, thieves will never have an excuse to stop stealing.

And that's the truth, I had some offering to sell me a 5 lug for 600 buxs cash right now. I was like I'll take it if its the jdm versions because I know its not stolen But the axle spine better be big. And if its a usdm I would like a receipt. Never got a call back or im and the user has been banned.
As long as the Honda scene is alive and well the itr will always be a target no matter what. And so will a itr clone. Or any fixed up honda whip. There is nonething we can do to stop a theif from trying to get our cars. Its up to us to protect it. Malcolm X style- By any means necessary

I have busted a lot of people and lead to a couple of x shops being shut down. Thanks gps. I even got a plaque from the chp saying thanks. But still there are a lot of cars on here and out there that are not protected and people still believing that alarm systems are a waste of time.
So I doubt theft will ever end

i think honda/acura should put the onus on themselves to better equip their vehicles from the factory with better security features....lets face it, its wayyyyy to easy to steal a honda.
BTW its not only hondas being stolen . Just 2 weeks ago my parents Toyota Rav4 with over 100,000km was taken from infront of our house. The SUV was prolly sold for $40G's in Taiwan
