Mobile welders
Ok, here is the deal. I dont really know anything about welding, and my engine will be coming out soon and I want to clean up the engine bay. Do you think a mobile welder would even consider coming out to weld up some bolt holes and weld in a few peices of small metal for me? I dont know what kind of welders they carry on their trucks, what the going rate is, ect. Dont know if I could have this done. If anyone has any input for me Id appreciate it. Thanks,
up here mobile welders are 99% stick welders, so you get your stuff welded with 6010 or 7010 *hippie* rod
i carry hand tools, vise grips, squares, pipe wraps, grinders, oxyacetylene torch, chop saw, two-hole tools, and a few other misc goodies along with my consumables (grinding discs, chop saw blades, welding rods, cone stones, etc)
going rate here is $100/hr from the time i leave my door step to the time i return with 4 hour minimum.
i'm sure your area isn't too far off that ballpark. though i've noticed a lot more mobile welding outfits in the states have more crap like compressors and **** that just aren't required for what i do.

I've just recently sold my old Miller Mig welder and went with a Millermatic Passport. The unit with a 10 lb wire spool and a full CO2 bottle is only 56lbs and as manuverable as a suitcase. Eventually I plan on getting a plasma cutter and a Tig machine, both with inverter technology
