Default Used Aircraft remover to remove paint from rims......... Yes i used the search botton.

After i search the forums on how to go about to remove the paint from rims i finally used aircraft remover. I used the aircraft remover because when i paint my rims it came out bad so i wanted to redo them again (Used around 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of black paint). However after i sprayed it on i wait about 30 minutes before i start to spray it down with water. The aircraft remover did remove the paint a little but it came out like tar but some area's it didnt do anything. Should i have waited longer before i washed it down or what?

Did you buy the spray on type? or is the kind that you have to apply on? The spray can aircraft remover isn't really that strong, so you'll need to give it more time to penetrate. Get the kind in a can thats not a spray & give it some time to eat thru the paint. Also you should clean your wheels a little bit before using the aircraft remover.

It also depends heavily on the tempurature that your in. I did mine when it was 40-50's and It didn't work all that great.

Has to be atleast 60+ IMHO.

Yep it will break down the rubber on the tires. I used steel wool and aircraft stripper for my wheels. To get all the small stuff left over I used carb cleaner.

Do wear gloves for this. I used leather because this aviation stripper will dissolve latex and nitrile gloves.

scotch brite or any thing abrasive will help!!!
think of what a flat surface looks like then what a surface will look like with scratches on it the one with scratches will allow the stripper to penetrate better!! more surface it can touch!!!
