"best upgrade for a non-VTEC D-series, is an EX/Si tranny, the head is nice if you've got a D15, but for Y7's personally I think a Zex cam and an EX tranny is not only easier but will yeild the same results."
Is this true will a ex tranny and a zex cam on a d15b7 give the same amount of hp gain as a d16z6 head swap!
confused let me know?

I would save yourselft not only the $$$$, but the time and dont do anything to that motor whatsoever. You are just wasting money IMO
Save up for a B18b1, or a B18c1 etc etc

I agree but if you want to stay D go with the JDM D15B from H motors online

Then my advice once again would be to not waste the money. Drive it the way it is.
How much are you going to get the cam and ex trans for? Are you doing the labor yourself? If you aren't, how much do you need to pay?

ex/si tranny has slightly shorter gear than dx tranny.u will get a better aceleration a little bit but it wont gain any hp on swaping tranny alone.. mini swap wont make u gain dramatic hp either..why spent so much time on this labor for like a few hp gain ?
save the cost of a cam and tranny and just get a greddy kit, its faster, cheaper and you'll be able to show some of the DOHC guys just how much D's suck when you blow their doors off.

Not necessarily...you just need a good tune.
I saw a thread on here a few days ago where a guy had his EG hatchback running high 13's on a boosted D15B7...with over 200K

A turbo is definitely in your ball park....But you need to do a lot more research before hand. You do not need to build your motor at all if you get it tuned and keep it at a mild boost level. Some good places to go in cali are Church Automotive and Bisimoto. There are plenty of others...those are just some popular places that do good work. And yes with your ecu you will need to have it chipped and tuned. The tuner can do both.

so at bisimoto what exactly do i do, hook up the turbo drive it to the shop and have them dyno it with engine managment? it says $160 an hour how many hours would I need to do? and is it safe to drive the car to the shop, for me its like a 20 minute drive, with the turbo on! and lastly when they do the dyno do they chip it also for the 160 or what I need a lot of help! im new and thanks for the patience with me!

I would just let who ever tunes it chip it I would not buy one but that is just be unless the person tuning my car told me to buy it. If you want to to the install on the turbo kit go for it u can drive it JUST DON"T FLOOR IT UNTIL IT IS TUNED I have seen to many people blow up there motor because the do that. I have a friend right now who as an untuned turbo car and he has been driving it for months because he has not had time to get it tuned but he just drives it normally

you do understand you need alot more than just the turbo, right? im not flaming at all, it just seems to me you think you need just a turbo. does your buddy have a kit, or just the actual turbo, because if he has only a turbo, your going to need quit a bit extra parts.
homemadeturbo.com and turboD16.com are good places to look for more information.

An EX/Si tranny swap is an excellent upgrade. I just put one on my Y7/Y8 mini-me and I like the added acceleration. Who cares if it technically doesn't add horsepower, it seems like a faster car.
Zex makes a Y7 cam? I didn't think anyone made an aftermarket Y7 cam.
A mini-me adds about 20HP at the crank. Not too shabby.

What about driving on the freeway! or is that not okay because it could blow up my engine! and like i asked earlier with a good tune i can put a bolt on turbo with stock fuel injectors, and piston and piston rods, should i change my fuel pump?

Yes u can drive no the free way just don't floor it drive normally until u get the car tuned. No u not need to upgrade in stock is fine your stock rods in a d can handle like 200whp like I said before I have seen people pushing a little more and doing fine. If it were me I would just stick to 200WHP and if I wanted more then start upgrading.
now with the greddy kit I don't think u have to upgrade the injectors or fuel pump (let me know if I am wrong HT) but it would not hurt

Don't waste time modding a naturally aspirated D-series, trust me. Start piecing together a turbo kit. You can make one for ~$500 these days. http://www.homemadeturbo.com
