Newbie to Preludes...few questions
First off I love Hondas, but always been into Civics.
Lately though I have really gotten into the styling of the 4th gen Preludes and been thinking about getting rid of my 93 Civic to get a Prelude but I have a few questions first.
Is it possible to do an H2b kit on a 4th gen to run an H22 with a B-series tranny?
Has anyone ever tackled custom fabricating an S2000 gauge cluster into a 4th gen?
And over all...how do you all like your 4th gens? Pros, Cons? Things to look out for? And if you have owned both a Civic and Prelude...which do you prefer and why?
Thanks in advance..

I've been a member here for a couple of years and back then...my username on all forums was 5point7liter (regardless the type of forum). But what the hell does that have to do what I posted? If getting a Prelude means I am coming into a forum section of jackasses and startasses...maybe I'll stick to my Civic.
Now...either answer my questions and give positive feedback....or move onto another thread.

And that is answering my questions? Maybe a little...but not to the full extent that I'm looking for. I mean, damn....if you own a Prelude..help out and answer the questions!

Not available for a Prelude (the H2b kit.)

4th gen pros= They're fun cars from the factory, pretty good aftermarket with whatever you might want to do. ANNND a Prelude actually has some torque, compared to a Civic.
4th gen cons= If you expect to get the same gas mileage as your Civic, think about getting an Accord. If you want something with room or availabilty to have backseat passengers, don't look at a Prelude.
I personally prefer a Prelude. Why? Because
Prelude>Civic

No.
Have you ever seen the 4th gen dash?! S2000 cluster would be a downgrade in that dash and it wouldn't look right at all...and it would never even fit.
I love my 4th gen
If I won the lottery I would just spend the money on it instead of buying something fast from the dealer.
A Civic is an economy car...it's very different from a Prelude which was designed with performance in mind more-so than a Civic. Preludes handle very precisely and the driving 'feel' is awesome (to me anyway
). Not the fastest thing on the road stock, but that's a given with any Honda.

A buddy of mine has a 95 Prelude (H23). I pull on him when we run them and I out handle him in every aspect. But the overall exterior styling I have grown to love. Wider, longer, and you really dont see many nice ones (atleast where I live).
With the S2k cluster, I love them and thinkit would honestly be an upgrade. Given, the stock dash is nice...I like the small details that set cars apart from the rest.

I have owned a 94 Civic coupe and now I own a 98 Prelude. My brother had a 4th gen with an JDM H22 swap. Prelude hands down is much better. As far as pulling on the Prelude in your Civic, that really depends on the condition/mods of both vehicles. My 94 Civic EX, I/H/E pulled on my bro's stock H23 before the H22 swap. Then 3 months later, the crank in the H23 snapped in two, who knew. SO......., I think you will be happier with the Prelude.

No sh*t!, to all of that
x 1 gagillion million zillion (you get the point)
I wouldn't trade my 4th gen for anything. Its 14 years old and would demolish a good percentage of cars that roll off the lots today (in style, stock performance, durability, and Longevity)
To the poster of this topic: Take every prelude you see for a spin. See if you can take it to a mechanic. Usually they will look it over for free and tell you if its a good idea to buy it. If not they may charge 80 bucks (hour labour)

The Prelude driver's car must have been going into the turning lane then.
(Just to make sure my joke makes sense, a "race" and the Prelude is having to get into a turning lane and slow down for a redlight while the Civic keeps going.)

heres another way to look at it, who hasn't driven a teg/civic before? I think you should try finding a 4WS 4th gen and swap an h22 in it. combined with a decent suspension setup and bolt-ons, it should be better than a civic in every aspect.

the first question i have no idea about so i wont comment.
the s2k cluster im not fan of personally and the 4th gen cluster is very unique and definitely a matter of prefence, I love it...the electroluminescent look is great. my prelude is green so it also matches. the spedo divisions are a little small though, and the needle is thick so its hard to tell how fast your going precisely at a glance, but who cares, you'll love every minute of it.
one thing to look for on 4th gens is rust, especially on the sunroof and fenders. you can always fix some of it, but it will get expensive fast. also be prepared to use premium gas, always. fuel economy is also a low point on preludes, especially compared to a civic, alot of ppl will get "bad" milage even though the car runs good. the interior i wont even mention, its basically a 2+2, if that. I personally love my 4th gen, i wouldnt give it up for anything.

Bahaha, that Prelude must have had some major issues or he wasn't trying....or you have a lot of handling upgrades to your Civic.
But anyway, if you are already drawn to the 4G Prelude, you will only be happier once you have one.
