I've got a 99 Hatch with power steering and I would like to keep the power steering but would like to decrease the rack ratio a little to make the steering a little quicker.
According to the FSM, I've currently got a Ratio = 17.7 : 1 with 3.6 turns lock to lock. I'm not looking for go-kart 8:1 or anything like that... Just something maybe 10-25% faster than stock.
Are all the 6G racks the same ratio for the years/models?
Will any of the Integra racks fit my 99 hatch?
Can I swap guts from an Integra rack into my rack?
Quaife won't work. I have power.

So no options for the 6G? Contradictory information is rampant. Read up:

Just like you mentioned, the factory service manual has the stock info. Even for cars with power steering too.
Manual Steering
Type: Rack and pinion
Overall Ratio: 20.3
Turns, Lock-to-Lock: 4.1
Power Steering
Type: Power assisted, rack and pinion
Overall Ratio: 17.7
Turns, Lock-to-Lock: 3.6
It's all right there on page 3-22 in the '96-'99 FSM.
I don't know enough about power and non-power steering though, so I couldn't tell you if there's someway to make a hybrid with a shorter ratio since the power steering cars are the ones with the shortest ratio.
Perhaps this will bump the thread so someone with experience can post an opinion.

That's the problem in a nutshell... It seems that I've already got the fastest power rack available for a 6G civic and nobody has ever done any better than that??? At 17.7 : 1 with 3.6 turns lock to lock??? With all the chatter about people wanting faster ratios, there's absolutely no options out there to do any better than that? Only option is a ratio multiplier to end up with a go-kart? Seems hard to believe.
Options:
1) Install Quaife rack - Won't work. Quaife is for non-power only. I've got power and want to keep it.
2) Use Si subframe and rack - Won't work. According to the part numbers all 6G racks are the same including the Si.
3) Drop in an Integra rack - Won't work. Teg rack only fits 5G Civic. Doesn't fit 6G Civic.
4) Swap subframe from a 5G into my 6G - Not sure. Big job and can't figure out for sure if it even fits.
5) Swap Teg rack guts into my 6G rack - Not sure. I've been to a boneyard and have compared the Teg rack to the 6G Civic rack and there are some non-trivial differences in the guts. The biggest difference I found was that the Teg rack is a couple inches wider than the 6G Civic. Might cause a problem... might not. Changes the tie rod angles and you might run out of alignment adjustment. Depends on the design of the rest of the parts.
All the people with 6G Civics looking for faster steering and nobody has come up with any other alternatives???
And thanks for the bump. I'm such a thread killer....

#4 will work. There are a bunch of K-series guys using an EG subframe in an EK. I can't comment on how the rear engine mount would work with a B/D-series though...
