I think it's a D16Y8. Which is a VTEC motor.

What does it say on the engine block?? Its stamped on the little sqare part to the left of the exhaust mani.

Is that a civic EX?

I'm not 100% but since it is in a sol I would say it a d15 Non Vtec unless the person who u baught it from did a y8 swap because from 92-95 the vauvle covers said VTEC

He has an SI. He has cruise control which was only on the Si in 93 Which tells me he has a D16Z6. I bet you have rear disk brakes too huh? I know my del sols man. I'm a member of team sol. Case closed.

It can be either or, d16z6 with a y8 intake, or a complete y8 swap with an older style valve cover. Those are the only two sohc motors that have the spark plugs facing forwards, other then the d16y7 which is the 96-98 sohc non vtec motor but the intake on those is different and I really doubt anyone did a y7 swap and also swapped the intake and exhaust manifolds into a delsol.

That's a y8 for sure. Someone else noticed...

"wheres the dip stick?"

y series motors have them by the timing cover. The intake manifold is from a y8 but thats a 92-95 valve cover and they can be swapped.

The valve cover is off a 96-00 because the 92-95 non vtec valve cover spark plugs are facing to the back of the motor.

the 92-95 d16z6 valve covers didn't say vtec on them and they are vtec.
