Loss of good power/acceleration/vtec???? please!
Ok. i have a 93 SI. and did a 01 JDM h22a swap. the car ran so strong and beautiful. vtec kicked in around 5500 and it pulled hard and you could hear it pick up really loud too. Suddenly my car seemed to lose lack of power and you cant hear vtec and it doesnt even pull, almost sounds like im red lining it to long. i thought my clutch was going, so i replaced it with a act lightened flywheel, and a stage 2 clutch. Nothing seemed to change at all. I trust the mechanic that did it for me, but who knows? How else could i be lacking power? I know my car isnt the same and isnt pulling good like it used to. Like my 1st gear kinda shoots up awful quick into vtec and im shifting quicker and not very good acceleraton? could it be my clutch done wrong or anything else? please help im going insane. my timing belt went a lil while ago, and replaced my water pump, belt, and adjuster. could that of fucked the head up? i know dohc dont have that problem too much but idk whats going on? thanks.
First of all, was your car warmed up when you were driving it, because if was still cold then vtec will not engage. Also if you were low on oil, there would not be suficient oil pressure for the vtec crossover to occur. Otherwise, I would do a basic tune up on it. Try changing the oil and oil filter, cleaning air filter, new sparkplugs and wires, check distributor and cap, and do a compression test. You could also inspect your fuel system to see if it is up to par for the newly swapped motor. You might want to check your fuel pump, fuel filter, and injectors for adeqaute fuel delivery. Also, are you running the correct ecu and is the timing set correctly. It also kind of sounds like a clogged catalytic converter. Hope this helps.
