flooding rain gets into car, ecu ruined?
So I come back to my car from class...during class it was flooding outside and my car was parked on the side of the street. Well, APPARENTLY the water got high enough that it seeped into the bottom of the door and got in both my passenger front and passenger rear floorboards...problem is that the ecu was temporarily not mounted from where i've had to take it out a few times and so water just BARELY got into it. I took it apart and nothing is burned or anything...my question is do you think it is alright?
i wouldnt blow dry it but i would deffineltly leave it in a warm place to dry for a couple days make sure it is completely dry before suppliing power to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have gotten many diffrent electronic gadgets wet and dryed them out to find they still work just dont supply power to it if it is wet!

Here is what to do. Goto your local radio shack or anywhere you can get isopropyl alcohol pull the cover off and the board out of the case start a few inch's above where the water stopped hold the board on end and pour the alcohol onto the board use an old clean tooth brush to scrub the board clean. turn it over and repeat on the other side. Don't worry about soaking the board the alcohol will displace the water under any parts on the board and dry with out leaving a residue that can damage things. The other great thing is it evaporates faster then water so the board will dry out faster. Make sure everything is dry stick it back in your car and give it a try

If its a obd1 ecu there is nothing water can actually make its way into so, yes rinsing the board with alcohol should make everything good to go.
Well...I dried it out, then tried a little bit of alcohol on it...and its working like a charm. Thanks guys.
