Default new motor in an 87 crx

What will i need to put a 1g teg motor or a zc in this car?? I know i need to upgrade the fuel to add FI. How well will a weber carb work on one of these?? I am just trying to figure out what will be the best NA setup for a DD and still keep my cost to a reasonable amount.
Thanks in advance

Welcome.

You are asking good questions. Now answer some questions for us so that we can best help you:

How much $$ do you have for this project?
How skilled are you?
How many potential donor cars (1st Gen Integras) are there in your area?

At a minimum, you will need the wiring harness and fuel system from a FI car to make the D16A1 work in your carb'ed CRX.

I know that swapping engines is popular, but have you considered building the enigne you have? A Canadian market or an Si head and a set of sidedrafts carbs can make 120hp at the wheels with the EW motor.

well i am skilled. this is not my first project i have a dsm and i have modded it to about 400hp. As far as budget i would like to stay under $2000. AS far as donor cars goes i really dont know havent looked but we do have a few junkyards that are imports only .

I replied to your post over in RPR before coming back to this thread.

It sounds like you know what you are doing. I would source a 86-89 Integra and keep it for parts. In the long run, it will be easier to do your swap.

Or you can build the stock motor to make about 120whp. In a 1800lbs. car, that is pretty exciting.

just curious, what are your ingredients for 120whp from a carbed 1.5? also, how much money would this cost?

More induction- replace ther stock FI with side drafts or ITBs
More cam- the stock cam is very tame, more agressive cams are available
More head- port & polish, shave the head for more compression, etc.

Cost? Depends on your machine shop costs and how much work you do yourself. It is possible to fabricate your own ITBs or sidedrafts from motorcycle parts. A cam is not very expensive.

the stock 1.5 in the dx model was 60-70 crank HP(i think). i think to acheive 120 "wheel" HP the motor would have to be seriously built with a full race cam/head etc. and lots of compression. i do love the idea and think it would be very cool to try(i might do this someday) but as far as cost goes i think a decent teg can be had for 1000-1500 and would be reliable and good power for sure.
