Alarm busted?
Here's the situation.
Last Thursday I come back to my car from a REALLY bad round of golf
and when I go to unactivate my alarm it actually activates which tells me that I forgot to turn the thing on in the first place. No big deal due to the fact that I was at a nice private club with many other more desirable cars were around.
Well now I try to turn it off and nothing happens. My transmitter is lighting up but it won't turn off. So my stupid **** decides to manually unlock the door with my key. THE ALARM GOES OFF.
This leaves me in the parking lot for a good 1/2 hour trying to figure out what the hell to do. I finally ended up pushing the button on the LED and the main button on the transmitter at the same time and this turned the thing off.
But now I can't turn it on or off. Anybody have any ideas of what is wrong? I'm really considering just getting something new but I'd like to get this one up and running in the meantime. I think it's a Hornet or something?? I got the alarm from my brother a few years back.
Thanks,
I'm very sorry for the long post.

Yeah, that was the first thing I did. Still no go.
I think it's time for a Clifford. Any suggestions on settings and such. I know I want it set up with a back up battery and interior siren as well as the exterior siren. I would really like to hook up some air horns as well.
What features should I look for and what type of budget do you think will be required?
I will be heading out to California next year so I might as well beef up the security now so I'll be "semi" safe once I'm out there.

As far as being stuck in the parking lot, find your valet switch, get in the car put key in ignition and flip the switch, problem solved.
As far as if your alarm is "good", it's usual the install that makes an alarm good or bad. Belive it or not, if you have the alarm with the features you want, and its of good construction, a $60 alarm when installed by a professional is amazing.
Search for posts on "the best alarm" it was less than a month ago that tekken, gsrracerboi, nsxextreme and a lot of others suggested good features in a new alarm AND an installer.
After saying this, if your alarm is decent and has the features you want, a professional install of the same alarm, plus some addons like a dual stage shock sensor, proximity sensor, backup battery etc. are all just that, they are addons and do not require a large new purchase.

I was going to suggest replacing the battery on the remote also.. but since you tried that.. also try erasing all the remote codes and reprogramming the remote to your alarm brain.. I don't have a hornet alarm so sorry I can't tell you how to reprogram it.. but for some reason my friends remote (both primary and spare) stopped responding.. and he erased the remotes from the alarm brain. . then reprogrammed it and its been working since.. look in your owners manual...
anyway if it armed and you couldnt get it to disarm.. just use your valet switch/code...
