my car wont go in gear at all when the car is on but when its off the car goes into gear... so i tryed to start the cr with it in first and it wants to go but it wont so what do you guys think???? clutch or tranny
the clutch is apart of the transmission. It sounds like your clutch is completely dead and it's not stopping the flywheel so you could put it in gear. How many miles do you have on that clutch?
Just to clear some things up....
The clutch does not stop the flywheel. Depressing the clutch pedal disengages the clutch from the flywheel and removes the rotational input to the transmission. If the OP can't get into gear with the engine running, either the cable linkage is misadjusted or, if it's a hydraulic clutch, the fluid is low or the piston seal is shot.
DC209... Your post isn't clear. """ so i tryed to start the cr with it in first and it wants to go but it wont """
The car won't start, or won't move?

my vote goes to the clutch. i know when i first put in a six puck clutch and flywheel in my car. and i guess i didnt tighten down the pressure plates bolts stiff enough for the stifer pressure plate and it hard as crap/impossible to get it into gear with the car on. after i tightened everything up tighter its worked great everysince.
i says its your clutch
i says its your clutch
I hope you tightened your flywheel and your pressure plate to actual torque specs and not to "as tight as you can". These do require actual torque spec torqueing.

not tryin to be an a$$ but dont be lazy, u messed something up in ur tranny so bad where u couldnt drive it, just take it apart and see what it is... there isn't any kind of miracle or special trick for u to magically make ur tranny work again... it sucks dude i know but its just something about k-series that we're gonna have to live with! good luck it!
I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say his car is a manual, I mean he is talking about its goes into gear with the car off and everything. Anyway, k-series trannys are notorious for having trouble, especially in the 02 Si's. I had trouble out of mine also, and if you take it to Honda, they will blame it on racing, so you'd be better off taking it apart and lookin at it yourself.

Its your throw out bearing. It goes into gear when the car is off but when the car is on it wont engage? My bet it that your throw out bearing is shot or disconnected from the the fork.

hey bro soorry if you dont umderstand my post... but my clutch wont go into gear when the car is on but when the car is off it goes in easy.. so i tryed to start it on first and the car jus jumps and i let go of the clutch cause i dont want to mess up anything else... so what you think?
I had the same problem in my car. After, 2 months of using a new exedy clutch kit. I had the samething happen to me. All you have to do is adjust the clutch pedal under the dash, and it should work again.
This is what I did, and it will save you from pulling out the tranny to find that everything looks fine.
I already went through that even sent my clutch kit back to exedy.
So, try adjusting the nut on the back of your clutch pedal, and that should be it. Turn it one full turn one way. If that doesn't work then turn it one full turn the other way. If that doesn't work then it's time to pull the tranny out.
Hope this helps.

um why dont you push the pedel down and have some one look at the arm that moves the throw out bearing. if that does not move its you slave or master cylinder. i replace one on 03 dc5 not to bad to fix check there first. i think if some thing was wrong with your throw out bearing you would hear lots of nosies when the car is started

Sometimes it's the easy things that keep a car down for a while. Instead of the major things that everyone says to look at.

the fork does move so its not the slave master cyl. the car makes no noise when the car is on... it sounds normal.. i just cant put the car into gear when the car is on. some people are telling me that i prob crushed the clutch and thats why it dont go into gear when the car is on??? but im still not sure..

Adjust your clutch pedal. If that doesn't help then pull the tranny.
