Default Timing belt snapped, new engine or new head?

I have a stock d16a6 in my CRX and my timing belt snapped while I was driving on the freeway at approximately 75mph. After installing a new timing belt, the engine seems like it wants to stall everything I start it up and it vibrates alot too. I'm thinking one or more of the valves got bent after the timing belt snapped.

So I was wondering if it would be easier to just replace the head or replace the engine with another one? TIA

you'll most likely just wanna get a new engine...that'd probably be your best bet...i personally havent known anyone to bend valves in a single cam...but im sure someone has done it, lol
make sure you double check your timing..you might just be a bit off??

a6's are a dime a dozen. you can easily replace the whole ngine for cheap or just get a new head for $50 and call it a day

Can't really know the extend of the damage till you get the head off. May just have a bent valve may have a busted piston.

Of course, you can always use this as an opportunity to upgrade your motor. If you don't want to/can't afford a B-series, you could always go SOHC VTEC.

or you could do a mini me and use a z6 or y8 head.

but check the head before you decide on a new one and visually see the valves or check the rocker arms. because it could be something worse and not be the valves at all.

more likely on a DOHC though

if u cant afford a new head or motor u can just pull ur head off take it to the machine shop and get itchecked for cracks in it..than go from there if the haeds good i say replace the valves and put it back to gether...

Prolly bent valves but before ripping the motor apart, I'd triple/quadruple check the timing again make sure your not off a tooth...but luckily these motors are cheap so don't sweat it too bad...and I'd put the new belt on the "new" motor (if you do buy one) so it doesn't happen again...

The problem here is that, when you factor in the cost of all the gaskets, parts, and the shop costs, you can easily come out over the cost of a good, used motor.

HAhaha. It's a D16A6, by a new timing belt and slap it on. 99% of the time they are fine. I've never seen an A6 get bent valves from a timing belt snapping personally, even at high rpms.

I'd use this as the perfect excuse for a mini-me. Get a slightly more expensive head and get more powah.
