Anyone of you join the S2K world coming from an 11/12 second Civic/Integra?
Lately the whole Civic thing really isn't doing it for me. It was fun when I was younger, and owning a B-swapped Civic was a big deal, but these days I'm just not excited about it as I used to be. In addition to that the car takes up all my money and I can't even drive it anywhere. When I do take it out I'm paranoid to park it anywhere because im afraid it will get stolen, and insurance definitely won't care about my mods. I can't take any girls out in it because it's loud, smells like turbo cars do, and uncomfortable, in addition to the fact that girls ******* hate hatchbacks. To top it all off I feel like the scene is going to ****, last couple meets i've been to all the civic/teg drivers were all shady and ghetto and fagged out in their BAPE hoodies and other stupidness.
I'm really temped to pull the plug on the Civic and just get rid of everything. I've always been a Honda guy and I've wanted an S2000 since I can remember. The money isn't an issue, I can definitely afford it, I just want some reassurance that it's a different world than the FWD gayness I'm used to now. Mainly I just want something that is RWD or AWD, can be made fast if I so choose, yet isn't a hoopty.
Has anyone here been in my shoes before? I feel like an S2K is a great platform that is still "nice" as it's a true sports car and far from a $2,000 econobox.
Thanks guys

Wow, it's crazy timing to see this thread because I JUST made the decision, after owning/building her for the last 6 years, last night to part out my turbo civic.
I agree with everything you just posted, and that's why I'm selling out and moving up.

do it....you will have NO regrets....until s2000's come way down in price and those same kids make the leap to the S....but that's a long ways away
I built a turbo Integra GSR that I use as my daily driver and I love the car to death, but I plan on getting an S2000 after I graduate. I'll never get rid of the teg, though. The S2000 will be converted into a fully built and boosted track car. I'm guessing the power of the S2000 will be a little disappointing as it is stock, but I'm sure it will be a VERY fun car to drive.
I own both .....And I feel the same as you do . You will not regret having the S one bit. I DD mine and I couldnt be happier
while i didnt have a 12 second civic. i have a 12 second cavalier. so i can see what your saying about growing out of the whole go fast in a strait line thing. i just garaged it though rather then sell it. have way too much money into it, i couldnt even come close to taking a decent negative loss, rather then even breaking even.
loud exhaust, stiff mounts, cheap rattles, etc all that of a cheap modded economy car. its a totally different world drivign the S.. driving fast in a strait line doesnt even come to my mind anymore

I think that might be what I'm looking for.

can't wait to purchase a tig and at least boost my civic, then fab up a kit for the S.
other than that, owning just an S is not a good idea. get a beater to go along with it

I had a 12 (maybe 11)sec civic and parted it out in april when i blew my motor. I do miss the boost but the s2k is a blast to drive. It's still quick and the rwd is so much better. I got out of the civic game for the same reasons as you. I didn't wanna be driving around in a civic w/ a loud exhaust all the time. The s2k is just a nice classy sports car. I dont regret getting rid of the civic although I am planning on building a track car relatively soon. Its actually most likely going to be a fox body mustang notch but thats a different story.
I feel what your saying bratok. I used to have a 98 rs it wasnt 12 secs or anything but it was clean and pulled on gsrs and other cars of the like all day everyday. And everytime I would go to a meet there would allways be the shady kids that walk around acting like they are taking pictures of your car when you can clearly see they are snapping your license plate. Or at the races they would want me to run they're boy cause they seen me run b4. So I was like *** it I need to upgrade. Sinse I got my S I havent gone to the races once nor have I raced anyone. I gave the teg to my sis she knows nothing about cars but thought the teg was cool. She didnt want me to change anyhting on it besides the ACT heavy duty pressure plate and 6puck unsprung clutch. Shes kickin *** on the teg I dont know how but she learned how to rev match and **** its funny. Anyways sorry for the life storry. But get an S2K the scene is better and a more civilized. Plus your gona love the handeling of the S2k its a sick on ramp/off ramp bomber.
Once you get a S2, you'll no longer think 10/11/12 sec. You'll think lap times, auto x, grip, and taking on/off ramps chasing bikes. The S2 is the best car to have fun going around the street. I had a all motor EK, and it was fast in a straight line, no where near as fun as the S2. That was also my first FF car, and I will never again own a FWD car. I love my S2, and you will too. I used to think 1/4 mile times, but I now take my car to the track as much as I can, and still drive it as a DD. You cant ask for a better car all around. Hope that helps, and hope to see you in a S2 soon!

depends on the individual... i bought my AP1 when I had my civic because I wanted a DD so i could take the civic out not worry. I got into auto-xing and loved it and still do. i sold the civic because it was just time and money consuming. exactly 1 year later... I miss my fkn civic lol. I'm into motorsports and if i had the money it wouldn't only be drag or auto-x. i just traded in my ap1 for a new ap2 and will be auto-x'd and i'm trying to get into HPDE's... but even still i'm hoping to build another civic (or other turbo car) to fill that power gap that i miss so much. so like i said... it depends on the individual. if the civic/integra fast econo box thing was just a thing you did because it was cool or the thing to do then sure... u'll feel more "grown up" in an s2000. I do most the times but nothing's wrong with liking fast cars.

without a doubt get rid of that money pit... i wish i left my GSR stock and didnt mod it at all... it was nice, but in no way was it worth it... when modding an S, at least when it comes time to sell, people actually want your parts... as long as u buy quality stuff youll be alright and get a good chunk of change back

i dont have a civic as a beater but i have a e36 328ic bimmer. i iwll say since i got the s in january i have not wanted to drive the bimmer at all. my parents also have nice *** cars and i have no desire to drive those either. i prefer my s 90 percent of cars out there.
although i still miss my porsche 944

I am in the process of selling my boosted Civic and will be DDing a S. I've been fairly happy with it except for how useful my Civic hatch was when I needed to move things around. The hatch is 10000 times more useful than the trunk of the S.

i never had a problem selling parts from my civics. if you're talking about building a turbo car and doing it right people will buy those parts as well. if you're talking about ricing it out with all the jdm crap like s2k people do them maybe not. only s2k owners are dumb enough to buy expensive used jdm stuff

Not sure how bad your winters are but I'd never drive the S in the winter here in PA. I picked up a b16 swapped CRX for dirt cheap to drive in bad weather from now on, plus now it gets to be garaged all winter long
ive had about 10 civic/integras/crx. the past two were a 11 second street integra, a 10 second sfwd integra. I just recently purchased a 2000 NFR s2000 about a month ago... i just bought a inline pro turbo kit for it last week and its sitting in my room. I cant tell you enough how happy i am on the decision i made. its such a nice car, fun to drive and you get looked at in a total different way from driving a civic/integra. eventhough i had a couple beast *** cars its just not the same. I saw get a s2k you wont regret it for a second. Keep in mind i drive a 2000 crv as a bad weather day car. If it is your only car then you might have some options to weigh because i wouldnt be able to only have a 2 seater. ask me any question you need to since i just went though exactly what you felt.

you;d be surprised what you can do with the trunk of the S

forgot to mention the s2000 is forged internals from the factory, a headgasket, clutch and turbo kit away from 500whp reliable daily driver on pump gas. not many civics can make that kinda power even with built motors on pump
