Default Digital Gauge Cluster Swap?

I tried searching but I didn't come across anything.

I have a 2001 Civic HX and I would really like to swap out my gauge cluster for a digital one. The cluster I was looking at is the Honda Insight cluster, as it is all digital, made by Honda and probably has a decent chance at fitting into my car. I haven't really considered the S2000 cluster, as it would be far from appropriate in my car. I imagine it would not be difficult to get all the parts of the cluster working, minus of course the IMA Assist/Charge scale or perhaps the MPG readout.

Does anyone have any links or information to people who have tried to do a swap like this? Are there any sites that just tell you everything you need to know about the Insight gauge cluster or anything?

Thanks,
Scott

I think this one mayyyy be pushing it. But for you wire-savvy techies out there...

Idk bro....personally digital gauges are....just....tacky to say the least.

Well, I like the way it looks . I don't mind playing with wires, I just want to be sure it would fit before I decide to buy one.

Compared to what I have, digital is a lot better.

Well I like the idea, but I don't know how plausible it is. I think It would greatly depend on if the electronic components to create the visual representation of the information are actually built in to the gauge cluster unit, and if they use the same data collection method that our stock gauges use.\, or if the brains are in the ECU of the car itself.

If I knew of a way to test each circuit, without destroying any on-board circuitry, I'd gladly give you my 2 cents. But, when it comes to clusters, I get a bit eerie and I tend to just look at what others have done before me, for inspiration. I'd recommend looking into the threads for the S2000 cluster and seeing if there is some correlation between the S2000 and the Insight, wiring wise.
