Default how to set up coilovers? At what point is to low or too high?

I got a set of ground control coilovers + tokico luminas... i'm unsure where I need to place the springs. currently I lowered it just a tad bit where I can perfectly fit two fingers (index and middle) between the wheel well and the tire. i'm sure everyones fingers will differ in size so the measurement is actually 1.5" gap.

As far as looks go I would perfer to have it sit about 3/4" away from the wheel well and tire. how do I know I'm not sacrificing handling and such?

anyway, i'm fairly new to this stuff. If there is a rule of thumb on how to set up your coils I would love to know.

Thank you!

Too low would be having the outer ends of the LCAs higher than the inner ends, as the suspension geometry past that point gets weird. If you're that low, not only are you likely going to be scraping every pebble on the road, but you'd be riding around with the dampers constantly compressed most of the way, and hitting the bump stops all the time...which isn't too healthy for them.

Your goal of having a 3/4" fender gap is just fine. I wouldn't worry about it at that point.

If you ask me, if you're worried about handling and practicality, so long as you're not tucking and there's at least a little bit of fender gap, you're fine.
