Default spoon coilover users, do you use a dust boot and bump stop?

i'm about to install my spoon n1's, i'm debating on whether i should install a dust boot and bump stop, since they didn't come with any. has anybody installed these on their n1's? where did you get dust boots? i looked at steering rack covers but they look too big to fit

do install bump stops or else the shock will completely bottom out and blow out the dampener.

Didn't you have Mugen N1's not to long ago? Why the change?

yup i sold the mugen's, they came with pillowball mounts, which i didn't really like because of the noise they made. i agree about the importance of the bump stop, that's why i wonder why spoon didn't include one

well if you put on the bump stops, why not get dust covers while you're at it? You probably want one of the rubber covers, but those do wear out eventually.

When modifying/upgrading you'll always have more noises then stock, it's just a fact of life and something you have to deal with.

Bumpstops are vital. Dust covers are important too if you live in an area with a lot of..dust, and esp in areas that rely on salt in winter.

Are you speaking from experience with Spoon N1's?

I never had a problem without bump stops or dust boots on Spoon N1's, Quantum CR's or Moton Club Sports.

My $0.02.

Nope, just based on general experience with shocks in general and what people learned on this subject have told me.

I agree, that these might be shorter and much less prone to bottoming-out; But no shock is completely protected from the potential circumstance that will do so.

As far as the dust covers go, it doesn't take more than common sense to realize that dust covers are only going prolong the life of shocks that are exposed to salt winter after winter. Afaik, the Japanese don't use salt in snow-covered areas, so I doubt that Spoon factored that in as a design criteria.

The fact that Spoon didn't add either of these doesn't automatically mean that they don't believe bumpstops and dust-covers are necessary; it just means that the intended application is a track-car.

The roads are salted in Japan, just as they are in the States.

Exactly.
