Changing coolant
I need to change the coolant in my '97 civic, but I'm having some problems. The engine drain bolt is rusty and stiff. It's also not very accessible, so I have trouble getting enough force on my socket wrench. If I use a larger wrench or a handle extension, I can't get the wrench into place due to other auto components in the way. Can anyone give me some tips on the best way to access the drain bolt? So far trying from under the car has been the most promising, but I just can't break the bolt free of the rust. Also, the service manual says to replace the washer, but I can't find the washer in any online parts list or at the local auto parts stores. The all only list the oil drain bolt and washer, not the coolant drain bolt. From what I have seen on my car the two bolts and washers are different sizes.
Word. I had the same problem, but you should use the wingnut (loosen and take off) and be able to remove about 85% of the coolant, that's plenty.
