My Rex is Toast...What Should I Buy Now?
Well, my CRX has been deemed totalled by the insurance company (though I don't agree w/ them). I'm wondering what year/model CRX I should get now instead. It will be a dual duty car that will be used mostly for daily driving with occasional track weekends. I'm wondering how much of my parts will swap over to another year/trim level CRX. It was an 89 Si with GC coilovers, koni yellows, S/T rear sway bar, a B18B/USDM A1 tranny and aftermarket wheels/tires (which will swap to any other CRX of course).
I'm thinking about an 88 Si or HF or possibly a 90 Si. The things I didn't like about my 89 Si were that it had a sunroof that didn't work, so was just dead weight (though I would use it if it did work), it had door-mounted seatbelts, and it had rear drums. The HF is probably ruled out because it doesn't have all the amenities of an Si that make it so much better for street use, but I want it because it doesn't have that damn sunroof on top, and it's so light. The 90 Si would be nice because it has rear discs, but then of course it is at much more of a weight disadvantage to the 88s.
I'd like to know what you think, and any issues about compatibility with the aforementioned parts coming from an 89 Si. Thanks in advance.

hey don't dis the 89 Si, that's what I drive and it's my baby...sucks about yours man, and IMO, go for an 88 Si, and find a swap off a wrecked 90-91 if you can for the brakes...do you get to keep all the aftermarket goodies you had on your old one? Did they give you the option to buy it back?...Whatever your choice man, good luck and happy hunting!
I think I can work out a deal where I give them all the stock parts back and have them pay me the worth of a stock 89 CRX Si, while I get to keep all my aftermarket parts.
And yes, I'm planning on staying with 2nd gen CRXs.
I'm leaning towards the 88 Si, but I'm wondering if there will be any compatibility issues with the suspension components.
