Here's my opinion.

I don't give a damn. Why should we really care what you do? Half of you people rely on others to make decisions and form opinions for you. Get a brain and use it.

Insurance was the main thing steering me away from the Evo/STi. Get a quote on that before you make a decision.

i came from a evo IX to my current s. two different beasts. absolutely loved the boost and cornering ability at such high speeds. it was really hard to break the car loose. the insurance was barely more expensive than the s for me (about $150/year difference). although the power in the S is obviously not as great, the s is just as fun to drive around. plus, i stopped getting the 'wtf are you gonna fly away' looks.

however, if u can get a hold of an EVO VI TME, i would definitely switch. we don't have that option in the states sadly.

You wont have as much fun. There's no way. Not only is the S2000 RWD, but it's smaller with much better quality and feel.

Cornering speed is higher in the S2000.
The EVO has no convertible top.
Mitsubishi quality VS. Honda quality? Cmon.
The S2000 is most definitely more of a driver's car.
S2000 gets better gas mileage.
9k RPM.
The F20C wail is much nicer than the 4G63 fart.

I would never trade mine for an EVO. It's an Econocar with a turbo motor and some refinement. The S2000 is a pure and real sports car.

i've had 2 s2000's and 1 evo8 before.......s2k hands down.....after you get over the speed and power......its just a regular 4 door looking car with a wing.......s2k=sexy lines and looks with some power to back it up with some mods

its the same thing thats wrong with the evo in general. don't get me wrong, its fast. But if you really need a good explanation refer to the s2ki writeup of s2k vs. evo. Well biased, it explains how a car built for sport and a car built for economy and modified for sport just arent the same!

s2k ftw .

I wouldnt do it. But I geuss it depends what you wana do. A 400whp Evo is cool and all but I would still rather have my S over that anyday.

I think that the 8 and 9 are the same except a few minor differences.

hahaha.. it's called MIVEC not MITEC

I own an EVO IX MR so I know a thing or two about evos.
It depend on what you want in a car, if you dont need the 2 extra door and more roomier interior keep the S2K. The things I love about the evo is the quick and precious steering it goes where you point it....w/ some minor bolts-ons+boost control you can run 12 flat or lower all day.
I need the AWD turbo for all season fun and the two extra door for hauling the future kids so I got an evo instead. I wont sell/trade my evo for a S2K but I wont mind getting one to park next to my evo and fd rx7 in my garage.

If you're in the US....The IX is the best model out in the US market so get the IX.

I wont lied to you or anyone... I love my FD but the bad thing about owning the FD is the 13B rotary engine....my has about 56K miles and it suddenly blown out of no where. I'm now on my 2nd ported/built 13B and hoping to get 450-500hp.
If this wont least another year I'm going LS1 swap.

However driving the FD is like riding on a rocket, they're light about 2500lbs or less and they handle awesome when you get bigger wheel/tires setup.
I would sugesst that you have a 2nd car if you're going to get an FD....because like I mention above the 13B can suddden blow out nowhere for appearing no reason at all.
