Default Where did you guys get your motors?

Currently I am looking for a D16Y8 complete motor, but I cannot find any website that sells this motor. I was wondering where you guys have bought your motors from, how your experience was with the company, did the motor come with a warranty and how resonable were the prices...Thanks.

i bought from jspecautosports.com the company was great to deal with. got a complete gsr swap for 3500 with lsd shipped from canada. this price was pretty common 3 years back soo yeah price wasn't bad. you can most likely do better then that now. unsure of warranty status.. never needed it. im sure it had atleast a start up warranty. GL in your search.

Their based out of canada, have a handful of JDM motors, including singlecams.
Although thier products are quality, i wouldnt recomend them on the basis of real crappy customer service and shipping confusion.

Y8s weren't sold in Japan.

That's why they're hard to find.

Junkyards and ebay sellers have them around. I was able to score one for a friend's daily driver for $225 on a local forum. Super cheap.

Look on local forums (if any exist). Look in honda tech market place. Look for them at junkyards, or at speed shops. Someone might have swapped out their D and left it there. Happens all the time around here.

Look for the OBD2 motor if your car is OBD2 and you want to pass emissions. Or you will have to swap out the oil pump assembly from your OBD2 motor to whatever OBD1 motor you buy. In killafornia, I think you can only buy a same year as the car or newer motor.

I got my full motor and tranny swap from H MOTORS ONLINE. Steve was very helpful. He sold me a JDM swap that was so clean you could eat off of it! good price and selection.

I personally would check locally, or within a reasonable driving distance first. I don't know about anyone else here. An maybe I am a little old-fashioned. But I just don't like the idea of plopping down large sums of cash for a motor, sight unseen on the internet. I also dont like paying hundreds of dollars for freight shipping. I would MUCH, MUCH, MUCH rather drive even a few hundred miles to pick up a motor in person than order online.
