i would like to paint my hood today and i was wondering how i could get that emblem off my hood.

very carefully with a clip tool. there are two pins right in the center of the H that hold it down, you never know, could be glue too if it was remounted before, if there is glue or tape, heat it up with a heat gun or hair dryer a bit and carefully pry from the center out. just work it off, don't put too much pressure on one point at a time.
