short shifters
i picked up a cheap short throw from a local shop, didnt have any brand just a blue shifter and it has stood up to repeated track use so i have yet to see a difference

Usually they make the 20 dollar ones out of a cheaper material, where skunk2 probably makes it out of a better material.

Yes there is a big difference. It's not just the money.
I have installed 3 Skunk2 's on our cars and one B&M in one of our crews Interga. The Skunk2's are much better to shift then that B&M.
I would not waste the 20 or 30 on a cheap a$$ shifter. The shifter is some you use...how many times each day...what's that old saying...you get what you pay for.
