preparing to paint hub caps

Hello, im kind of new to this section of honda-tech and would like to know, what i should do and buy to prepare my hub caps for spray paint? I just want to spray paint them black with a nice red emblem in the middle. Any info on what paint and other things would be helpful! Thanks guys

ROFL! good info ... i think im going to wash it good and than sand it down smoothly.. But the only thing im kind of stuck on is what durable paint to use so that it is weather resistant and will not chip off after riding dirty LOL!
