how do i adjust timing on the prelude 5th gen?
do you need to have a hondata to adjust the timing? my car is shaking violently after the front and rear motor mounts got replaced. the mounts are in and are secured properly (tripled check that). however, i do have motor mount inserts in both areas. but the reason why i had them replaced before was due to the car shaking because of a ripped mount. the orginal mount was one of the worst mounts i have ever seen. but after the new mount and all that good stuff the car isnt the same anymore. theres something wrong.
ineed to know. please advise.

I'm currently idling at 500 rpms. Is that normal? maybe this could be the cause of nasty vibration. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Turn the idle up a little and see what that does. With stiffer mounts you can have variations of smooth-to-vibrating between a few hundred rpms.

Should be a screw on the throttle body to manually adjust it...if it has never been touched it will have a little wax covering the screw.

so if its idling low... should i turn right or left? because no matter which way i turn it... the instrument guage remains at 500 rpm which leads me to wonder if the ECU controls teh idling.
where should my need be sitting at? 750rpm should be teh norm right>?
thanks hawk for helping me.

Well, if you're turning it and it's not doing anything then don't worry about it. Turning it left will back it out and cause the idle to get higher, but I guess maybe OBD2 won't let you do that?
The IACV has a lot to do with the idle and so does the FITV...you might try to clean/inspect those.

OBD whatever, you should be able to adjust the idle with that screw. Get it to 750rpm +/-50 as prescribed on the sticker under the hood, in the helms manual, in the search here, on google, in the chiltons manual, in the haynes manual, and in any other honda manual that exists on this earth.
In addition to the information on idle speed, the correct procedure for adjusting the idle on your car will also be contained in the manual.

i'll inspect those as soon as I get off work. Very very strange. maybe the motor mounts inserts stiffen up the mounts really hard.
but i been in cars with motor mount inserts and they dont shake as crazy as mine. but i will take a look and inspect the IAVC and FITV
