I am not looking to resell the car... I don't have a high budget.
As long as that car I'm looking at is repairable, and body/frame has no major damage in the past then I'm all for it at the right price. I plan to drive it also until it isn't drivable anymore --- Like my old car.

I wouldnt get it. If it has a bent valve, I wouldnt be surprised to find some retainers craked, they tend to do that on the ap1 if you do the money shift (3rd into 2nd instead of fourth. My S2k is a salvege but I got it all fuked up ( all boddy damege) and fixed it myself so Im confident in my car. But as staed b4 dont get that car its prolly got more **** wrong with it.
What if I had a mechanic check it out and repair it for <$1000?
Theoretically speaking, if I can get the motor fixed and in excellent shape all for <= $11500, would that be a good deal?

What is a decent price for a 00-01 S2k with mileage varying from 60k-100k?
I would love to own another black car, but it's slim-pickins' right now...

in my opinion that seems high for the car with salvage and a bent valve.
as a ball park, i got an 01 at 54k with no problems and immaculate condition, clean title for $14,800
i would think the salvage would bring it down pretty far, plus the engine trouble.......
im not saying dont get it, check it out and if it looks good do what u want, im just saying you have some good leverage to work the price down alot!

That's what I'm planning to do (work the price down with cash offer)...
If I do decide on it, I will make sure the car is repairable at a decent price.

I'm iffy on this. I looked at a salvage car around here that was going for $11,500, and once I got under the car, it was rediculous the money I would have to put into it to make it right...car wound up selling for $8,500.
Good luck getting a S2K for 9-13K. Salvage is not the way to go.
On engines as high-strung as ours, I would think that a fault like a bent valve could create other problems down the line even if it is repaired as you continue to stress the engine and wind it to 9000.

I've been lookin around doing my research and you can get a clean title semi high mile s2k for around 12k. I'd say find one of those. If i werent a lazy *** I'd get some links up
I've been looking around craigslist, recycler, autotrader, ebay, ht.com, & s2ki.com.
I found some clean high mileage ones that go for around 13K.
You guys are right about the one I posted. Salvage is not the way to go as it may cause me more headaches down the line.
I will probably try to bump up my budget and go for a loan. I know this next car will be with me for awhile so I better do it right the first time.

as long as your credit score is decent you can get a loan from a credit union. i got approved for 20k with a credit score of 615 i think. its my first loan and i only have one credit card that i haven't even had for a year.
I was going to try to get a loan cosigned with my parents.
I mean my credit score is 730 +/-5.
After thinking about it, I probably will stay away from a salvage car.
