Default Newbie to EF's

What's up? Im getting a bone stock 1990 hatch saturday. Now I dont really wanna go all out nuts on it but Im maybe gonna do a b swap someday. What a good start to make it a little more peppy? Its a 1.5sohc of course. I had a 2000 ITR before. I know nothing about the EF's. Thanks

get a cheap d16z6 or a6. the 1.5 is kinda hard to make them move. if you want to stay with it, convert to MPFI and get a name brand proven intake and exhaust. if you want bang for less buck a lot of people seem to like an ebay pipe with a K&N filter or get a high flow cat, muffler and resonator and take them to a local exhaust shop and have them weld it up with bigger piping. You will notice a difference and it's always a good idea to let your car breathe before you start other mods

It shouldn't!

It's probably DPFI (only 2 injectors on a funny looking manifold)

you will need to convert your harness to mpfi. (dpfi only has 2 injector clips) rywire.com can do that for you. you can pick up a manifold from an si, d16a6 motor.

OR

You can read the FAQ and wire it yourself. Not that there's anything wrong with a rywire harness but the conversion is simple enough if you know what you're doing. If you're not familiar or confident with your wiring skills, by all means get the rywire harness.

im in the same situation as u iahve a 91 hatch that has the 1.5 in it. you could do a mini me, or i had a ZC in another EF i had they are a fun 1.6L non-vtec motor, still considered a D-series, but cheaper that a B. but u will need to rewire for a 4 injector motor, which isen't hard, or change it to OBD-1,which i did,. then u get a wider range of a motor selection.

EF's are really light.

i started my crx doing a b16a swap, from there on...intake mani etc. etc. boost.

but you can always do the typical i/h/e, or if you really want to swap a b series, do some lighter wheels, suspension, strut bars, gut it, etc. up to you.

HAVE FUN!!

Get a good suspension and work on the handling. If you are planning on a B swap in the future a catback would be ok but I wouldn't worry about a intake or header till you know exactly what your gonna do with it.
