Default New cd player

So if i go to bestbuy and buy a new cd player for my 99 civic lx the keyless entry and dome light will stop working too right? If i do get a new one can i tell them to fix it and would i be alright with the stock speakers? I just need a cheap cd player and some more bass, not much just so i can turn the volume up all the way with no distortions.

No, it won't stop working. That's only in 96-98 where the keyless entry brain was located inside the radio. Your keyless brain is located in the driver's door.

They'll be stock paper cone speakers ... but they'll work.

There are 4 speakers. A 5 1/2" drivers in each door, and two 6x9" speakers in the rear deck.

the rear speakers are a pain in the *** to get in. i had to pull everything from the front seats back out. pull up the seat unbolt pull the sides, and rear covor off. but with a little trimming on the front door you can fit a 6 1/2. then the stock tweeters just pop out to be replaced. also, just go to walmart and they have a plug kit that plus into your stock wireing harness and splices into your new cd player so that you dont have to cut any wires.

Unless, in the rare chance, he has the optional tweeters, which on sedans are in the top of the door panel. He'd see the little circles though.

Here is what stock optional '96-'00 Civic sedan tweeters look like.

They are still for sale here for $42. I can't remember ever having seen these in person on a sedan. I believe they're decently rare to have. I wouldn't mind picking up a set before they're discontinued if only so that I have a mint set for a sedan in the future or to sell to someone who really wants them.

Your keyless entry will not be affected with an after market stereo. As for sound quality, your system will have similar quality as stock but louder with a cd player... You can pick up a nice set of speakers online for $60 which would normally cost $100 in stores.

There are many DIY's for this stuff and installation is not difficult by any means.

personally, i dont know how any one can stand the sound of stock speakers. i fell in love with my alpine type R's hooked up to an alpine mrp-f550 amp. you get what you pay for.

I agree. The most rms watts/speaker most any aftermarket deck is going to put out is about 13. You won't really notice [i]too[/] much of a difference between a stock deck output of say 8 watts per channel and the aforementioned 13 watts of an aftermarket deck. Now, hook up an amp and run 75 watts to each speaker, and then you'll notice a difference.

As far as distortion goes, it basically comes from the radio's inability to put out the amount of power a speaker can handle. For instance, my front truck speakers can handle about 80 rms watts. With just the aftermarket deck, the speakers are only getting about 13 watts, and when turned up, are not getting enough power to present good sound. Now, with my amp, the speakers can get up to 100 watts a piece, though I have the gain turned down so as not to overpower them (hence, to not to blow them). This being said, for good sound reproduction, one of the important factors is to best match the rms wattage rating for the speaker with the output source (ie radio/amp).
