Default Cleaning an Engine Bay with corrosion/oxidation

Hey guys, so I sold this kid my 99 Si with an H22 swap and now I am buying back from him. In the time he had it, the motor and a couple other parts have a lot of corrosion on them. Yea I know, use the search. Well I havem and haven't really found an answer for my engine bay. I have a picture of what it looked like before I got it and since then, it got worse. A picture of the shitty bay is below lol.

What is recommended to clean the bay up and to get rid of any oxidation or corrosion? I'm thinking of the 0000 wool pads, simple green and a toothbrush. I don't mind spending time on it, but I don't feel like pulling the motor out. So if you could give me a couple of tips on how to clean it up with the motor and all still in there, that be great. Thanks!

Now do I spray the simple green off and then just spray it off with a hose or power washer? Or do I brush the block and whatever else needs to be clean? Thanks for your help

I use 409 orange cleaner, but both work the same. I use a soft brush on the painted areas just to brush off any dirt that is stuck to the surface. The block gets a good scrubbing from either a wire brush or a heavy duty regular brush.

Thanks a lot for the advice. If I end up getting the car I will post pictures of before and after and let you know how it goes
