How will you think it will do.
No doubt it will be successful, but do you think it is worth the 13-15k price tag?
i dont

No kidding... think about how many people got stuck with the 1098 and 1098S before the R came out
...then again... if you've got that kind of change to drop, I wouldnt be surprised if you ended up with all 3

It will be 13k for a base 848.
By the time taxes and **** hit, assembly fee, it will no doubt be 15k
Look at a base 1098 16k + fees

you'll be an absolute fool to pay that much for one. It's the same for people who pay 12k for gsxr 750's. You can probably walk OTD with an 848 for 12.5k to 13k since the estimated cost is 12.5k

Base 2007 1098 is $14,999, but rose to $15,999 because of the decline of the US dollar. Not to mention Ducati realized how much money they were losing out on by selling the 1098 for so cheap. The 1098 is the their highest selling bike in the last 5 years. The 1098 has beaten all selling marks of the 749/999 for any selling period.
Another selling advantage is that the base 2007 1098 opening selling price was 3g's less that the base 2006 999.
Ducatistas will jump all over the new 848. My cousin and I have already put down payments on the new 848, and my cousin already owns a new 1098.

If anyone were to buy a 848, and get it when it came out, you would be an absolute fool to think you could walk out for one the same year it came out for 13k.
**** they will be sold out everywhere just like the 1098.
Case in point, last year, ducati had a 23 million dollar profit, reason being the 1098.
I doubt you could walk out the door for a 848 for 13k
I am almost positive
And the US going into recession doesn't make it anymore cheaper as quoted above

oh, but it does. as home equity dries up, so do toy budgets. any dealer caught w/ inventory will be moving these things at firesale prices when people decide that they can't afford a 15,000 OTD 848, and get a 8.7K otd zx6r instead or a used 999 for $9000. so the recession cost won't get passed to the end consumer, but the dealer...
but that's just one scenario.

I already know what to expect from Ducati as I've already purchased 2 and the 848 will be my third.
Base price $13,000+-ish
Set-up/Service fee $995
Tax $1500
Extended 2 year (4 years total) unlimited mileage warrantee $850
=$16,345
Most likely I won't leave the dealership without having a full set of termi's installed so you can add an additional $2500

If it is over 10K I personally think it's a waste of money. But there are tons of people who buy bikes for reasons other than what they're intended for, so this bike will be a huge success.

I still agree a 750 gix would be far more superior in terms of price, but you gotta pay for the bling.

yes because only morons end up paying 10k for a new 600 supersport from the big 4. Noone should ever pay more then 9k for a new 600 supersport

Many people end up paying more than 9k for a 600 because they finance. More than 50% I would say finance a bike which in my opinion is retarded but thats for another story. OTD price on a 600 should be 8500 or less after taxes on a current 600 supersport

9k... 10k, not that much difference.

Yes it is, if you pay more than 10K out the door for a 600 you got taken. But that wasn't my point. This bike needs to be priced close to the gsxr 750, because it sure isn't going to be any faster. Not like that has stopped Ducati in the past though, look at how much more the 999/1098 cost relative to the Japanese bikes they got trounced by.

There are plenty of reasons why a Duck costs so much more:
Small production numbers compared to the big 4
Parts are out-sourced from MANY different small builders
Quality of build (fitment is second to none in the industry)
And the most important reason *** IT'S A DUCATI***
