yellow head lamps

i got pulled over for having 3000k hids and the cop told me that it is illegal. i wasnt sure so i signed the ticket. one of my friends said that it is okay to have yellow as long as it meets a certain kelvin? so im wondering if 3000k is legal.

Yellow headlights are illegal, period.

There's no way around it and no point in trying to fight it.
