03 EX 2Dr - Interior pillar panels
Hi Ya'll, first time posting. How do you get the two plastic pillar pieces off (the ones next to the windshield interior)? I have the dreaded loose clip rattle and I just want to see if I can get that fixed. Thanks!
Har Har...
I pulled apart everything thats plastic on my interior...so if anybody can help I hope I can.
1) Start by opening the door on the side respective to the Pillar piece you want to remove.
2) Locate the rubberized, flexable trim piece that follows the top half frame of the door opening and gently pry down on it more towards the middle of the doorframe until it pulls out and gently detach (desuction) that from the rest of the frame in which the plastic pillar borders.
3) This will expose the exterior facing side of the pillar in which you can then grip tightly at both bottom-most and top-most ends.
4) Apply an even, constant pull in opposite direction the pillar mounts flush to your A-Pillar (the frame of chassis itself at windsheild). You should be pulling toward you from a 45 degree angle upwards, pulling downwards at a 45 degree angle. This ensures you're going to pull the plastic pillar out flush to its mounting surface and no clips will break off inside of the frame. The plastic clips should stay attached to the plastic piece itself.
5)when reattaching start with the bottom first. Once seated in the top of the dash properly just move the pillar perpendicular to the chassis pillar istelf and slowly tap the lenght, bottom to top to clip the pillar back into its clip holes. reattach the rubberized trim piece *back to front* to make sure theres no slack in the middle (creating ugly kinks) and youre all set to go!

Ill be posting a whole DIY on removing all the panels from the interior of atleast 2001 - 2003 4 door Civics...if not 2004 - 2005 as well...depending on what the difference is between them. Should all be elementary.
Once you know how a few plastic interior panels of a Honda are removed you learn how Hondas interiors are asssembled and im betting you could rework ANY Honda at that point from the inside out!
